Charge pipe upgrade with BOV?

I'm planning to get a charge pipe for the 335i, but still considering if I should get a BOV. Any thoughts?

Also realized there are a few options, is there a difference between the different types of BOV (TiAL / HKS / Turbosmart)?

Saw a couple of options on the ECS website that comes with the bov. I think only ECS and Masata comes with it, the others only come with the bov flange

Well, you can keep the DV ones and run stock DV. It wont last very long because of the plastic spring inside of them (on non stock boost levels), so I would suggest the Forge DVs. The difference between them that made a difference for me is, you should clean the springs like once a year (10k miles) in the Forge DV, but you dont need to do that on a BOV. Besides that, what noise do you like hearing?

Remember, you have to buy a chargepipe that MATCHES the bov. I.e. HKS pipe for a HKS BOV, same for tial and stuff. I personally run an HKS set up.

HKS is a diaphragm , vs the Tial is a spring based. Spring just needs to make sure you have the correct spring for vacuum. Diaphragm, doesnt neet a spring due to how it operates. I do not know about turbosmart

And of course, YMMV

We also offer the MAD charge pipe, with Tial and HKS flange.

Thanks man this is really helpful!!! I'm leaning more towards the bov now as I like the sound . Where did you get your HKS set up from?

If you are looking for a loud BOV, get HKS
if not Tial is the most popular

VRSF, chargepipe and BOV. If you go Tial, theres a line adapter thing you have to do or drill into the intake manifold. The line they give you isnt big enough diameter wise. It is a very easy thing to do so dont get discouraged. Some people never need to do this, others do. Best way to see which you like more is to see and hear them in person, as youtube videos dont do them justice. In a way to describe, the ricey whistle is the HKS, and more of a traditional bov is the Tial, which is also quieter.

Ive been on several forums with multiple different cars.... and I have never had something be described as a "Squirrel Mincer"

Evolution Racewerks with dual bung for Meth injection and the Tial BOV. Awesome sound and really reliable. Pretty affordable too IMO.

Yeah can't agree more, if you're after a loud noise just go for the HKS ones.

I think regardless of the cp brands (i.e. VRSF, BMS, Masata etc), so long as it fits well then it shouldn't be a problem.
