My BMW APP fuel percentage???

I picked up the G05 40i 3 weeks ago, The first-day low-fuel pump had an issue and was replaced by the dealer. Everything is fine so far, I filled the gas for the first time on this x5 and found out the app shows the remaining fuel is not 100%. Or even 99%? Now it's 96 or 95

1) Would replacing the low-fuel pump affect the accuracy of the tank level?

2) Or is it possible that the app itself is inaccurate?

3) BTW, the fuel cap on the G05 appears to be slightly movable (after turning the cap back to the car, I feel it's a little loose overall). Normal? Thanks (updates: I searched online and it seems like the "Filler Cap" is not fixed very very tightly but a little bit movable? Thanks.

The auto shutoff sensor on some pumps is a bit sensitive, so it could be not quite full, or, the sensor may be miscalibrated. Hard to tell from here.

I don't think i've ever had it shown as 100% and I always get a full tank at the gas station. it also never has shown the same range as I saw when the filled the tank at spartanburg

It has to leave air in top of petrol tank to allow for expansion.

I get 99% or 100% after filling.
Don't stop pumping fuel after the 1st click, try filling to the 3rd or 4th click on the pump, the auto-stop can be over sensitive sometimes.

Do you stop pumping at the first click?

I've been told this is not good, that it overfills the tank and then there's a overflow valve that lets the fuel out of the tank which wastes gas. I always was told to stop at the first click

As I said, not every pump's sensitivity is the same. But, yes, you need some room for expansion in the tank. Once the cap is installed, you shouldn't get gas escaping the tank, but forcing excess gas from expansion into the vapor recovery system is not good for it. In an ideal world, once it auto shuts off, it's a good idea to stop filling the tank. Instead of running the pump at full speed, see if it makes a difference if you fuel it at a slower setting.

But, if you never get to 100%, the sensor may be miscalibrated.

Range to empty is not a constant as discussed elsewhere...it varies based on how you've driven in the past 18-miles or so and can easily change, sometimes by large amounts.

I've never had any fuel spill or vented by going a few clicks in, as long as its not overdone, but its unlikely you'll get to 100% by stopping at the 1st click.

Its an 80-litre tank, so the difference between 95% and 100% is 4-litres, really not worth debating tbh.

The other thing that can effect fill capacity is ground angle. I always try to pick the most level ground at the gas station, but sometimes you get areas that have slight inclines/gradients which I know can effect how much you can get into the tank too. Again we're talking a few litres, which again is the difference between 95-100%.

It depends on the pump - some are so sensitive that they stop almost immediately. But yes, when I get the first real click, the app says 100%. I can even drive a bit and it still holds at 100%.
