Entry Level DSLR Recommendations
I am considering getting an entry level DSLR as a holiday gift next month. I am looking for advice on which cameras are good for newcomers into DSLR while having enough features to last a long time (4 years minimum). I currently have a cannon powershot 800is that is good for a point and shoot but I need something to take my pictures to the next level.

If you want a EOS 40d its really cheap right now since its being updated with the 50d, but if you want to step down to like an xsi/xti, etc. that would be the entry entry level...they don't have as many manual controls so it depends what you are looking for.

you know we have a photography forum right? if you have never started out with a DSLR go with either Nikon D60 or Canon Xsi. I'm a Canon guy so whatever you want to chose.

d40x or d40 (if you are poor and can find one).
Ps- I have used the rebel xti a bit. I personally hate the interface on it and the Canon feels cheaper than the Nikon. IMO, the d40x is a perfect starter dslr that will take a while to grow out of. |
