Main Display clouds and overcast

Is it possible to remove/disable the clouds that are displayed like a banner at the top of the main screen when in full screen navigation mode? The same for when the screen switches into night mode, there is a grey overcast banner instead of the clouds?

Seems like a waste of at least 1" of the screen display with either the cloud or the overcast banner running along the top.

That is the way it was designed. No way to change it unfortunately.

On the older versions of iDrive…there are 3 selectable map views:

Map always facing north
Map in direction of travel
Map in perspective view (aka birds eye) which puts clouds at the top of the screen

I’m not familiar with the latest version of iDrive…so I can only suggest that you check to see if you have the option to select different map views in your version that will change it from what would be “perspective view” in my version (ID4) of iDrive. Surly BMW wouldn’t have gone backwards and removed this option.

You can see the 3 selectable map views in ID4 version of iDrive:

I just searched youtube..and found a video about ID7…and it appears it has the same map view selections. The selection is on the right side of the display. Look for the MAP SETTING selection….this will allow you to select how you want the map to be viewed.

To get rid of the clouds at the top…deselect the perspective view and select either direction of travel or north facing map:

thanks, I can finally make use of the full screen, I would have preferred the perspective driving mode in full screen but I guess direction of travel will have to do
