Honestly in terms of labor and part costs this seems suspiciously low to me. I wouldn't go with vargas turbos but ~$1000 for VTT Stage 2+ turbos is a steal... They're like $2300 on their site.

Edit: Oh, im an idiot. This is all labor cost. Seems about right imo, little on the lower end tbh, tho others may chime in.

Seems like a cheap rate if they are doing all that labour. Have they done this job before and aware of the install process?
I'm with Dave, I'd stay away from Vargas turbos.

The labor costs look fair.

One word of warning for you.......if you are going to have to take the car to the shop every time you need service/maintenance/repair work done on it, it's probably not the car for you.

These car's aren't really what I would call "reliable"......you are going to end up giving a ton of money to that shop.

Just saying.....

Oh...and like the others said, I would stay away from those Vargas turbos. And don't forget that you will need to find someone to make a custom tune for your car if you want it to run right after larger turbos.

That is kind of low, but it seems good. $1001 for turbo install is great, it wont even hurt when they charge you to remove it to try to send it for warranty repair, only to get it turned down.

Do you have a garage and some tools? If so, start researching how to fix stuff on these cars.

Repairing stuff on these cars isn't that hard.....but shops still charge an arm and a leg to do it.

Not really sure as far as a tool kit goes......but I would start with a standard and long metric socket set, metric Allen wrenches, metric open end wrench set, you kind of just build your tools as you go. I have a whole shop full of tools...and I still have to buy some new stuff every now and then.

You'll want a full torx set from T20 up to T50, a small and big e-torx set, so E6-E18, full socket set, all the way up to 22mm for the usual stuff, deep shallow, probably 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2, torque wrenches that go from super low torques like 6nm all the way to 420nm (axles, you are upgraded turbos after all), crescent wrenches, in particular 22mm, 21mm, 18mm, 16mm, probably a breaker bar or an impact. That doesn't account for special tools that some jobs require, and household stuff like pliers and picks and Allen wrenches. I don't want to scare you away, tools aren't cheap, but the investment will save you many times their value in exchange for your time.

I personally have a 280-some-odd piece husky set and harbor freight e-torx sets. Sets you back maybe $200 at most and it's most of what you need.

That quote looks good, not sure why they are charging for outlet pipes considering those come out for turbos anyways...

Okay thats not bad. I saw a 200+ piece set from harbor freight/home depot for about $200-$250. Like you said, isn't bad when considering the prices your paying an indy shop to do it.

I've developed an attachment to my car, so i dont think ill ever sell my e90; that alone warrants the necessity of a tool kit lol

Seems like a good price for labor, doesn't mean it's worth it, especially with those turbos which you could very possibly be replacing again in the next few months. I would do it yourself.
