Allocation being accepted to car arriving at dealer..

First time going through a build process. Talked to a SA and he said the whole process takes eight weeks from beginning to end. Is this true? Can someone shed some light on this. Also, he kept telling me to build the car on the BMWNA configurator and send him the build code. Only problem is Miami Blue is not an option. Does he know what he is talking about?

You need to build with him those color options aren't available on bmwusa.

Yes, if we take a time machine back to 2018. Currently it's at least 3-4 months, but often closer to 6 or potentially longer. And if you get an Individual color, likely add another month or two.

Build it with everything you want and one of the free colors (e.g. Alpine White). Then make clear to him you want to order with an Individual color, which he'll need to special-order.

No dealer can commit to a timeline on the current market. Every build is unique and it's ranging from 3 to 9 months without any particular reason.

Yeah you need to build a vehicle and provide him the biuild code. Them he hast to submit another request to get the individual color onto the build.

Ha! 8 weeks start to finish?? Those were the good ole' days. Even if you happen to get an allocation today, you're looking easily at 4-6 months until the car is in your driveway. With the Russia-UK situation, hopefully we will get our cars before 2025.

You'll find that a lot of CAs (client advisors, i.e. sales people) at these dealerships are quite clueless, and the aggregate knowledge shared in these forums easily outmuscles the insights that they typically have. Welcome to the process, and enjoy your Geo in the meantime.

I would be wary of this guy, but in any case, build the car with the options you want on bmwusa.com and send the code to the dealer, then go to the individualizer (https://visualizer.bmw-individual.co...=1&lang=EN#top) and build the car with the paint you want and tell your CA that you want to go with individual paint.

And, as others have said, the timeline is way off now, especially considering the plants where these cars are made are to temporarily shut down.

Good luck, but this site is a wealth of info, usually more than what you’ll find at a dealership.

I ordered my G83 on December 4th and it went into production about 8 weeks later and arrived at the dealer 6 days ago. Mine was purchased through military sales in Germany and delivered to a dealer that is 5 hours from the assembly plant in Germany and was not in am individual color. The military sales program "tends" to get allocations pretty quickly.

I don't that 8 weeks for an individual color is realistic

I agree with everyone here that this forum is your go-to source for gen on all fronts. That said, don't be lulled into gloom by the doomsaying and speculation--idiomatic symptoms of the legacy of two years' worth of corona-conjecture and, most recently, the reaction to the latest one-week production suspension, which is hardly momentous in the grand scheme of things. The crucial thing for you in placing the order is securing the build slot: once the spec is locked in, you know you're entering the approach to the home straight. Yes, things take longer than they did in 2018... But Ms are still 'halo' models and receive priority on most levels. Spare a thought for folks who are trying to secure a 330e or a nicely spec'd 1 series right now and facing a 8-10 month wait. Of course, that can also apply to M orders but it comes down to whether your dealer has a build allocation (or if not, whether they're able to confidently predict on when they can secure the next one).

You have to determine if there is a wait list at the dealer and then determine how many allocations they get monthly. Allocations are usually separate between M3 and M4. Generally, waitlists are longer for the M3.

You will be in the waitlist if there is no immediate allocation available. Then it will take however many months for your position in waitlist to get to an actual allocation. From there, I would estimate anywhere from 3-8 months to delivery. If you order an individual color, it may take more time.

I didn't take delivery in Ktown but instead the dealer sent me to BMW Welt in Munich to take delivery. I even got to watch my car get partially built.
