Carplay connects to the wrong car

I ran into this problem the other day. I was taking my car to drop it off for some work and my wife was following me in my i3. Every time our cars got close, my iPhone would disconnect from the M4 and connect to the i3. Is there any way to lock in to a connected carplay until disconnected before connecting to another one?

I have the same problem . until I set secondary phone in her car.
