Hello everyone,

I recently order a 2022 M340 and I didn’t have the option to pick the parking assistance package due to chip shortage. I never had a 360 camera, but is it really worth it? I could order an M440 instead and it has this package available. I like M340 more though.

you can get it on the m340i, just have to ask your salesman to add the package because for whatever reason BMW doesn't have it on the builder. It's not deleted in the build process right now either.

It's pretty cool, one of those options that you might as well add if you're gunna throw down $$ for a new BMW

I have the parking assistance package. I understand some people have the 6th sense to know when to stop before scraping the crap out of the front but I don't. I use the parking cameras a lot more than I initially thought and the few hundred dollars was a good investment. I love how it turns on automatically when it detects objects up front so it makes my parking jobs that much easier. I also love that it opens up the option for drive recording and side camera viewing for times you can't see oncoming traffic.

The self parking is a bit more of a gimmick. I tried to use it a number of times and it only worked a few times. I think I fought trying to get the position correct or detect the spot more than getting it to work. You also piss off the people waiting behind you as you shuffle trying to get the right angle.

TLDR: Get the camera package if you can. Small investment for something that is way more useful that one would think.

It's so worth it. I suppose if you've never had it you won't miss it, but once you get used to it there's no going back. Definitely try to add it if possible.

I also like it a lot more than I thought I would. I really like the back up assist for getting out of tight spaces. I also agree that the self parking is a bit gimmicky. Have used it a couple times but doesn't seem to work all that well locating parking spots. Other than that, I love the parking assist package. Cameras are amazing.

Unfortunately, it’s not available for a new order. I tried 3 different dealers in the area and none of them were able to add it.

The car that I ordered 2 months ago is supposed to arrive in a week or two and I don’t know what to do

It’s a hard choice between getting it without that package versus waiting for 2023 hoping that it exists.

The m240i builder has the park assist package and the HK surround option on it for some reason, the m340i has neither

BMW does some strange shit sometimes lol
