Tire Dillema - Conti DWS06 or Michelin PS4

I picked up a set of BBS CIR and need to pick tires. I'm torn...

I love CONTIs and would prefer them, but they don't make the next best size option for my M40 set, but Michelin does.

Should i get the Continental DWS06 Plus A/S - 245/45/20 (f), 275/40/20 (r)
or
Get the Michelin PS4 summers - 255/45/20 (f), 285/40/20 (r)

The difference is less than a half inch in width. With the contis I can sell my OEM, drive all 4 seasons, and get some $$ back for more mods. With the summers I have to keep/store the OEM and swap out.

Opinions welcome.

Reason why I have Continentals. You said it. Weather and cold is not Michelins friend.

If you need grip Michelin and then the time $$ effort of tire swaps.
If you want comfort and still grip if youre not heavily modded. Continentals.

I’m running the Conti DWS 06 plus in 275/40/20 square and so far (300miles) they are great and would recommend.

Get the Michellin's oin your new BBS wheels for the warm months.
Run your current Conti's in the cold months.
When the Conti's are worn, get proper winter tires.

Why not the Pilot 4 all season? Mine are great and as much as I like summer tires I want to use an SUV in the snow without having to swap tires. I live in CA and hit the snow three times a year. If snow is not an issue the Pilot 4 summer are the best.

I have the Conti’s on my BBX SX rims and will not change back to my summer tires. Super comfortable ride and the handling in wet and dry conditions is extremely competent. I have to commute through some pot hole infested Philly back streets to work and absolutely no pot hole suspension explosions!

If you're looking to keep the wheels and tires on all year, get the Continentals. I wouldn't suggest getting a summer set of tires and a winter set of tires and swapping back and forth on the same wheels.

Personally, I got some Blizzaks for my stock 19s and am keeping the wheels/tires as my winter set of shoes. When my BC Forged wheels come in, I'm putting some summer tires on those and those will be my summer shoes. It eliminates the mounting and balancing with the change of the season and your vehicle is always properly suited for the weather conditions. Plus you can swap out the sets in your garage for zero dollars, only your time spent. If you decide to go this route, I'd keep a close eye on Tire Rack and other sellers around August-October(ish) for the closeout winter tires. Got my set of Blizzaks for like $500 shipped.

Totally understand wanting to sell the stocks and use the money towards other mods, though. Best of luck with your decision! I need to order my tires like yesterday lol

I went through exactly the same decision. Ended up going Contis on stock rims in stock staggered sizes. Been working great on the 2022 m40i so far and means that i no longer need a 2 wheel setup.

This.

We have the PS4 AS on my wife's Q3 and they're great tires.

There are a bunch of tire threads discussing this, try doing a search. If you want to run 1 set of tires all year, then the Michelin Pilot 4 all season and the Conti DWS06 are both excellent tires. You can see their ratings and reviews on Tire Rack. According to Tire Rack, the Conti's offer a slightly softer ride than the Michelins and that's why I chose the Conti's. They are also a little less expensive. You can't go wrong with either tire.

Those are gorgeous rims, post pics when they are mounted!

I had done a few searches, but it comes down to sizes really - since I can't get the contis in the 285 size, I have to get the michelins, but I'm finding they are now on backorder. Hopefully not for long. Thanks for all your responses. Ive had both tires on other vehicles and can't go wrong with either...just wanted the contis. Boo

Yeah I am going to contradict myself a bit. I posted somewhere else that the A/S Pilot 4 are feeling just a smidge floaty at high speed transitions via-a-vis the stiffer sidewall Allenza…which came at the cost of lots of road noise and a shitty ride. I wonder if I would feel the same way about the summer Pilot 4. The A/S Pilot 4 is a great, very refined tire but not perfect but certainly light years better all around than RFTs.

I would bet the summer P4s would be in the middle, less floaty feeling because I'm certain they have stiffer sidewalls than the A/S, but at the cost of some increased NVH.

Have decided to go with the Conti's DSW06 Plus - trust them more in new england weather and wont need to swap to winter setup so quickly.
