Allocation week?

When will we begin to find out about this month's factory allocations?

haha who knows anymore. I placed my order in February and I am still waiting on an allocation. Allocations for x3m40i have dwindled and my dealer did not get any this month. Unfortunately looking at next month for allocation and even that is a guess. frustrating to say the least when most people placed orders after me and their vehicles are in production. i get how it works but still sucks

Yea, I've been waiting since early March and am apparently third on the list if the dealer gets any allocations so I'm not really holding my breath. How are people placing orders and getting production numbers after us? You mentioned that you get it how it works so I figured I'd ask, sorry not exactly sure how the whole process works.

It depends on how many allocations the dealer gets, which varies by sales volume from what I understand. So other people may be at higher volume dealerships that have allocations available. It also varies by model I think.

Same situation. Order placed Feb, was supposed to get April allocation, still waiting. If it goes on any longer will cancel '22 and move to '23.

I got my order in on Feb 9, have no allocation and my current lease ends June 5, so it's gonna get tricky. May have to buy out my current lease and wait for a '23 or just go electric as this is probably our last ICE car. Any thoughts on what you'd get if you were going for an EV instead of the X3?

yeh im not sure what to do at this point, my salesman was super cool at the start and now seems like an ahole. never answers my questions. Put on a good front to get my business and now its crickets. I dont play those games though so more than likely cancelling my order and going elsewhere or going with another brand. Waiting on cars sucks but at this point im set on not giving my salesman any commission from me for the way they have treated me. so yeh dont go to bmw near west chester pa hahahahhaha

I bought my '22 from BMW of Fort Washington, formerly West German BMW. Had a great experience.

I'm on a waitlist too and at the time they weren't sure how long that would take. Then all of a sudden the allocations for the m40i dried up and other than "supply constraints" the only bit of news I read was BMW may shift some or all X3 production to Mexico. The X3 has been selling well which complicates things.

The tough part about this is if there is a waitlist that doesn't mean the dealer will get any more allocation since they aren't sold orders yet. It all depends on the dealer's prior sales history and relationship with the corporate.

thanks. yeh i reached out to them, they were at least honest and told me they had no allocations and had no idea when they would get any. may try and order through another dealer, maybe third time is a charm? or go with another brand altogether. Decisions decisions.

Maybe call around to find a high volume dealer (even out of state)? Maybe someone has an allocation. Not sure how things are at this time.

If you read my post above with how many dealers I called from all around the eastern half of USA....I think you'll find yourself likely spending unnecessary amounts of your time trying to find an allocation. I would stick to your local dealers that are doing MSRP. I called & visited some dealers that wouldn't even sell to me because I didn't live in any of the local zip codes in their cities.

If you're not trading in a car an auto broker might be an option. There's a member on here that has contact info of one. You may have to have the car shipped to you, though. Or, pick it up out of state. If you scan some of the sticky threads you should be able to find them. Or, maybe they'll see this thread and reply.

The thing about you guys trying to find a dealer with allocation is that allocation is tied to volume, so you're going to be much further back in line with those dealers.

I understand the frustration, but it isn't the dealer's fault. It isn't your salesperson's fault, and imagine how much of their job is answering the same question from the same people week after week after week, when they have no power to do anything.

Months ago, more M40i's were rolling off the line, with as many features as possible, but less than people wanted. Now they seem to have taken the opposite approach; they're producing fewer based upon orders they can actually fulfill. Shock incoming: nobody likes either approach.

Hmm. My dealer didn't have an allocation but was still able to place an order about a week after my dealership visit. I'm not too sure how that works. I went there in mid March, and at first I had a week 18 build but it's since been moved to a week 21 build.

It's no different in the UK.
Ordered an X3 30e at the beginning of Jan. Still no possibility of an allocation.

I agree that it is not the salesman/dealer's fault. As they said to me. We don't get paid till you accept the car.

But it is deeply frustrating and I am losing patience with BMW

Basically something very overpriced. But tough spot. Good luck.
