Nicely done, even if I take issue with some of it.

Cool video, thanks for posting. I've only ever driven two M5s, the E28 and the E39. Between the two I'd take the E28 hands down.

As a lifelong E28 owner/driver (I was present as the first E28 rolled off the truck) and current owner of a 535i and 535is, I do love the E28 M5. But the Euro version is a far more driver-oriented example than the US model, and the US car compared to the 535is really offered only a bit more power which is next to nothing compared to today's cars, and really little else, from seats to spoilers, to Bilstein suspension. My "is" has M5 brakes and, sure, it stops very well. I'd find it odd if it was the best of its era though. And, actually, I find the E34 M5 more of a special car with fantastic "driver orientation" before the next generations became bloated.

With only a scant bit of additional weight over the E28 but with astronomical gains in torsional rigidity and horsepower, don't take my word for it:

I love them all, and I've driven them all. But I keep coming back to my '95 525i 5MT with the M50TU engine as one of the best BMWs I've ever owned beyond 200k-miles. Another 100-horsepower would make it intoxicating! Honestly my current favorite is my '13 128i M-sport 6MT. If money were no object, the 1M is possibly my favorite M-car of all time, even if many don't accept it as one of those, but my preference is to normally aspirated. And I did "own" an M1 for a few days and drove it nearly 1,000-miles, before selling it, but that's truly in a class by itself.

Other than that, I enjoyed the video and didn't dwell on or look for any errors of fact. As the owner of Isettas, 700s, and a New Range '70 2000 sedan, I appreciate the appreciation of those in the video as well.

easily my favourite M5.

but I did have a friend who owned one and sold it later—it's not a car that drives very well at lower speeds which takes away from its enjoyment in everyday exercises.

it needs space to wind out and come alive—which for me, is kind of the opposite of the alertness I always wanted—but still in terms of LOOKS and style and importance as well as character it's easily my favourite

I still think E60 M5 is the best M5 (controversial opinion LOL).

But one important thing that I took away from the video was that the e28 M5 was meant to be a low production niche motorsport product, hence why it was able to be hand-built.

This made me think about the recent CS products that BMW are making. Maybe cars like the M2 CS and M5 CS are the "true" M product predecessors since they are so much more limited and driver focused (with the F80 M3 CS being BMW testing the waters).

While I'll be trying to rectify this oversight, the E34 M5—happened to be a '91—is the only M5 I've driven and it remains one of my favorite drives ever. The combination of design, utility*, power, handling, and sound (OMG, the sound!) is still like nothing else I've driven.

*: If you get a 5 seater, i.e., without the silly hump in the middle of the rear seat.

Change is great; going crazy, I'm not sure about!
