cracking sound when accelerating

Hello Bimmers.

I have f30 328i 2015. i have been noticing a weird cracking sound from exactly the middle of the car "nearly beneath the arm rest" that only happens when i push the car to the fullest or it becomes so obvious even with the slightest acceleration when there is a load on the car like when i have other ppl in the car. also happens when going uphill. i dont know if this is something from the rear differential or the exhaust. i went to one mechanic he told me that the "gearbox bearing" needs to be changed but i dont have ability to keep the car now .if you have any idea about that please help me.

I recently started having the same issue you describe. Sometimes I think it's just something sitting in my console but I've been too lazy to empty everything out and take another test drive. Come to think of it, it started after a recent repair where I had the oil pan gasket replaced so I'm now wondering if the mechs broke something or didn't reattach something during that job. Did you have any service done recently?

unfortunately i have been experiencing this for long time and i have been lazy to search about it too so i cant remember. its worth noting that i changed the exhaust system and removed some environmental filters months before the issue

Yep, I was thinking that's what it was, thanks for reminding me. I bet it's to blame
