Love the e34 M5.
But oh my how far have we come in 30 years since its debut. Today a G30 530i can outrun the e34 M5 to 60MPH (5.8 secs vs 6.4), 1/4 mile 14.9 @ 98.3 MPH vs 14.8 @ 94.6 for the 530i (Very close)all with 2 less cylinders and far better fuel economy. You have to remember, back then, anything in the 6 second range was considered to be in supercar territory. Lateral acceleration in the M5 was 0.85g vs 0.92g on the G30 530i. Automatics in the 1990s were still lousy, so the only way to order a new M5 was with the manual. Just a little perspective and in no way an attempt to put down the E34 M5 or its legacy. Rather a look on how the performance bar has moved up so much in 3 decades and how we take it today basically for granted. Great video. Remembered seeing and admiring those E34 basically everywhere back in the early to mid 90s.
