I just got my X7 last week and I'm thinking to get a set of winter tires since they are hard to get, maybe wheels as well. I have the 21'' inch Wheels Double-spoke bi-color orbit grey.

I'm fairly new to taking care cars myself. I've only used my dealers before with my Jeep. So I'm trying to do my research here and see what I need to get.

I have the OEM hitch which I believe it makes the rear tires wider. I'm not planning to haul things this year but may use it for skis in the future. Here are my questions. Please don't laugh at me if they are so dumb.

1. Should I get set of tires with rims or without rims?
2. Should I stick with 21'' for winter sets if I'm getting new rims or 22?
3. Do I have to get a wider rear tires or I will be fine for a square setup, considering that the hitch made my rear brakes bigger?
4. If I got a second hand OEM rims, do they have same specs or do I need the ones that's for an X7 with hitch?
5. Any suggestions on tire choices for 21''?
6. Can I use Discount Tires or other tires to do the switch or go with the dealer?

If you have 21" wheels now, I would just get a set of winter tires. Not a new set of rims.

Getting the factory hitch does not affect your tire size.
The factory hitch includes bigger brakes (unless you're on M sport brakes already) and additional engine/transmission cooling.

If you got the 21" then you have a square setup already. 285/45R21 tires.

If you're going to be switching between winter/snow tires and all season/performance tires yearly then you're probably better off getting a second set of rims with snow tires mounted on them.

You should probably stick with 21" for snow tires. More choices for tires.

Again you are on a square setup already, no need for wider tires in the rear.

If you get second hand rims, make sure they fit the X7. There are no different rims for hitch or no hitch vehicles. They are the same.

If you're buying a second set of rims and don't need OEM you can get a second set of rims with snow tires already mounted directly from tirerack or discount tire. No need to go to dealer. You'll save some $$ by not going to the dealer.

If you want to buy some second hand OEM rims, then you can use anyone you want to get tires from. Again, no need to go to dealer for tires.
