Grounding Valentine 1
I just finished hardwiring my v1.
For the ground wire, i used the hex on the driver's side, not the passenger side. also, i didnt put the fork all the way in but it is still pinned down by the hex bolt; this is a pic of it. do u think this will be alright - that i used the driver side hex and the fork is attached like so?

Yes. That bolt also touches the metal frame of the car, which the passanger side does also. Is the V1 on? Yes? Then you are fine. Good work.

If it works, it works. A few people experienced proglems when using their sunroof, I used one of the blueish bolts and havent had a single problem...

I just hardwired my V1 yesterday and followed sfbmw's post to install the V1 on E90 with pictures sure made the installation look simple. I used steel wool to remove the bluish green stain and a star washer to get a better ground connection. The only hiccup I had was the power connector to the green-white wire. The green-white wire appears to be 24 guage stranded and the connector supplied by Valentine is 22 guage. Crimping the metal splice where the wire goes into helps tighten up the connection. Haven't road tested the V1 as yet, but my road trip to Seattle will be the true test.

No hiccups now since I tightly squeezed the connector onto the green-white wire. SFBMW's post mentioned that before putting the light cluster back into place, make sure that there is no loss of power when all the wires are pushed back into the headliner and that's when I had the hiccup. It was quite a challenge to pull down the light unit, almost gave up but it was worth the experience. There may be a time if ever the sunroof couldn't close, one has to remove it to get to the manual crank. It was good to know how to do it.

Yea, while doing it I thought it was the dumbest design in the world. Its is easy to get your screw driver on the metal ring that lines the hole of the head liner for the unit. Someone who doesnt have a good idea of how it could be attached could easly destroy their car. I bet the new headliner is not cheap either...
