2023 Lexus RX 500h F Sport Performance
As a current X5 owner and former Lexus owner, I am VERY impressed with this specific vehicle. It is GORGEOUS inside and out! The gloss black (F Sport only) against the white is working well. And it's very nicely appointed with various luxury items. It's not gonna give earth shattering performance. But it's adequate.
The all new RX will sell like hotcakes no doubt. This video actually shows him getting inside and the interior of the F Sport.

Overall I think it's an improvement in looks over the previous gen, but there's something weird going on with the way the hood protrudes out that ruins it a little.
I'm glad they're offering something that has decent performance. We had a 2010 RX350 prior to our current X5, and the RX performance was PAINFUL. We don't need our family hauler to be an athlete, but sheesh driving that generation RX was just depressing.

It's an improvement inside and out despite continuing to lag behind the German competitors in key areas such as performance, styling, interior material quality, etc. However it will continue to outdo the Germans in reliability, ownership experience, cost of repairs, etc.
My parents have always found the RX to be a dorky and unattractive car to drive, but as they near retirement age, they'd seriously consider one thanks to how painless they are to own. Can't say that about an X5 out of warranty.

The second video I just added to the op, shows the interior in detail. A ginormous improvement inside with solid luxury appointment.

Not impressed. Was hoping for a better looking exterior, but it mainly looks the same from the side but the front now has an "Acura beak." Rear on the 500h looks awkward with that painfully fake exhaust design. Only 4-cylinders available too. Interior is improved, but not desirable in its design in my opinion, at least they got rid of the trackpad. Like others have said, reliability and low cost of ownership will allow this to remain the top selling vehicle in its class easily.

Looks like a certain marine mammal. Hope they show a good sense of humor and pay from every sold RX into a Beluga conservation fund.

XC60 seems like a nice enough car but the XC90 has piss poor reliability rankings, so I can't imagine the XC60 being great.

Interior looks great. I will reserve judgment on how the front end bulge looks like until I see it in person.
What I'm confused at is the RX500h puts out 406 lb-ft of torque and 367 hp but only manages to get a 0-60 time comparable to a base X3 with a 2.0l engine and no electrification. Yes, I get it that this is a Lexus SUV and all out performance is not what they focus on. But to claim it to be an F-Performance vehicle and fall short on performance is baffling. I can see the RX350h selling very well. They better have done something to make it harder to steal these things. The current generation RX 350/450h continue to dominate the most stolen vehicles list in this area. They really need to add better telematics similar to BMW, GM, etc. |
