Manual transmission G80/G82 questions

Hello brain trust,

I've found the gearing ratios for the manual transmission and final drive but does anyone know the torque rating of the trans itself and the clutch?

I'm thinking about mod path after warranty expires and love both lapping and drag racing manual transmission cars.

Wondering if I picked up a drag pack for the car if the clutch and trans would take it.

(I'm hoping the diff and axles are strong, not sure if there are aftermarket axles available or not)

Given this car traps 119-121mph and a decent first gear and final drive I'm sure it'll do 11.40-11.50 on a good tire.

Thanks!

Clutch has been shown to slip at around 650ft lbs. As far as breaking hard parts, I've yet to see a drivetrain failure whatsoever. Stock power, I wouldn't be worried.

These cars do tramp when being aggressive with the clutch, and on any decent tire you have a decent chance of breaking something. There are beadlocks that fit I believe an 18 inch tire now.

I have yet to get the car to do a sub 1.9 60 on a tire, but I'm also awful. Watch the RMRW Livestreams starting Saturday if you want to watch me really struggle. I do have a clutch staged in Kansas and am ready to swap it in the pits if need be.

Are you just trying to bracket race the car? You can honestly run a very consistent (not like crazy 5 thousandth spread) but within a few hundredths if you set it up right.

Hey thanks, what's your best ET/mph in the car? Did you launch with everything fully off?

I was going to look at a Weld DR/skinny combo. Goal would be to run 11.40-11.50's consistently on a decently prepped track without beating the crap out of the car. (Ie: not launching at 7,000rpm) I'll do a bit of bracket racing or run in an 11.50 index class for fun.

I honestly haven't had much prep, 12.1 at 118 with JB4 issues and not light. I've done more street prep and I'm fighting for 11's over the next week. I wouldn't go weld IIRC one of the smaller MFRS has a direct fit setup with no spacers. I wanted to run a 17 inch et street R on the car but I just settled on a 19 et street ss.

You are kinda forced into MDM due to launch control. With M Drive Professional you can tune throttle intervention.

Thanks, do you have a picture of your DR setup?
