Not Selling..... Trade in values

Hey all - I was looking at KBB for a car about I'm about to sell/trade in prior to a home purchase... looked up my '22 M3 just for fun (obviously can't select individual color so I selected "Blue") and the trade in is listed at $100K :O

Are people actually getting $10-15K+ over MSRP.... ON A TRADE?

The other car I'm selling (another '22) is also getting cash offers from dealers over MSRP.

Side note: My dealer said they have 19 in line for the M3/4 and are quoting 15 months to get one.... I guess those two 'statements' go hand in hand.

I’d believe it. This market is INSANE. We just this morning traded-in a 2018 loaded Subaru wagon with 76 thousand mostly-highway miles, and got about $4,000 less than we paid new almost 5 years ago.

Oddly enough, we were also able to get a discount on the ‘22 loaded turbo outback we traded towards. So in a weird way, the market (for a few hours this morning) somehow worked for us selling AND buying.

I think the Munich factory took a bigger hit than the information they released. Los Angeles market has practically no M3's but you can pick any M4 you would like. Looks like the g80 has an actual shortage and loads of people are waiting on orders.

I see used cars below 10k miles at local carmax, shift, or non-bmw dealers listed above 90-95k. Scary part is that most of them actually move but this may not be the case outside of California / SoCal

Interesting! If anyone wants an Atlantis Metallic G80 M3 for $130K I got one available

Totally kidding. Crazy world though, we’ll get more selling our ‘22 Tahoe to a dealer for cash than we paid 4 months ago.

Back in September '21 I checked the KBB value on my 2019 M5:
$84,000

After adding 7000 miles (and 9 months) since then, the current KBB value on my 2019 M5:
$82,500

I paid $107,000 originally so this is basically only a 23% drop after almost 3.5 yrs (25,000 miles) - and almost no drop in the last 9 months!

Market = insane!
