Strange NEW Car that's 12yrs old
Soo..I ran across a strange VW someone over here in Germany is trying to sell. It's a 2010 VW Routan with original 300miles on the odometer! It looks brand new...but I feel something must be fishy! Does anyone have one of those unlimited 'Carfax' deals?....I'm curious, but not $30 curious
Here's the VIN if someone is as curious as me: 2V4RW3D11AR306180 |

that is odd.
i do know there are many 2014-2016 vw cars affected by dieselgate here in the US at least that never sold. dealer near me as 4-5 pretty much brand new 2015 vw touregs with less than 100 miles on them. I dont think the 2010 routan was affected though https://www.deanteamvwkirkwood.com/u...&model=Touareg |

it was turned into a salvage title like right after it was sold brand new then the next entry is export to germany. I would stay away from it not only because it's potentially salvage (may have been done for some export loophole) but mainly because its a minivan.
edit: when exporting from Texas here is what the thing says: https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/...es/VTR-902.pdf Requirement for Export-Only Sales 1. Only a licensed dealer or governmental entity may sell a salvage or nonrepairable motor vehicle to a person who does not reside in the United States. 2. A Salvage or Nonrepairable Vehicle Title must be issued for the vehicle prior to sale and delivery to a non-United States resident. 3. The licensed dealer or governmental entity must: a. obtain a legible copy of the purchaser’s photo ID issued by the jurisdiction in which the purchaser resides. The photo ID may consist of: • a passport, • a driver’s license, • consular identity document, • national identification certificate or identity document, or • other identification issued by the jurisdiction in which the purchaser resides that is able to be verified by law enforcement and includes the name of the issuing jurisdiction, the purchaser’s full name, foreign address, date of birth, photograph, and signature. b. obtain a Purchaser’s Certification of Export-Only Sale (Form VTR-901), certifying the purchaser: • will remove the vehicle from the United States, • will not return the vehicle to any state of the United States as a motor vehicle titled or registered under its manufacturer’s vehicle identification number, and • will not operate the vehicle on a public highway in the United States. c. stamp the Salvage or Nonrepairable Vehicle Title (once on the front and each unused reassignment space on the back of the title) with a stamp that includes the words “FOR EXPORT ONLY” and the dealer’s license number or the governmental entity’s name. d. report to the department every Texas-titled salvage or nonrepairable motor vehicle sold for export only within 30 days of the date of sale. Note: When completing the “Type of Title” block, provide the type of ownership evidence provided to the purchaser as follows: • Texas Salvage Certificate of Title, Texas Salvage Vehicle Title or Texas Salvage Certificate – indicate “Salvage” • Texas Nonrepairable Certificate of Title or Texas Nonrepairable Vehicle Title – indicate “Nonrepairable” Note: A copy of this form (Form VTR-902) may be used to maintain a listing of all motor vehicles sold for export only. |

A nearly new TDI Touareg post-fix is an awesome vehicle. I ran one 238k miles and loved it. Good performance, comfort, economy, space and aesthetics. Reliable except for the diesel systems, but that will have been taken care of post-fix.

What's the big deal? Isn't this just a Canadian-made Chrysler min-van?
