Credit History Length

Just curious, those of you who went through BMW FS, how long were your credit histories and how many previous auto loans did you have?

I am pre-approved with BMWFS, current M440ix is financed with them. A long credit history for me as I am planning my retirement in the next 4-5 years (just did my yearly review with my financial planner, and lucky me I can keep buying these cars when retired) As far as cars financed, more than I care to recall but I'll go back a few years. 2015 m235i, 2017 C43, 2019 Honda insight, 2020 Kia Stinger, 2021 M440ix, and of course the gem of them all will be my 2022 M4CX.

When I ran credit in December 2021, they had every car since 2011 for me. They did not show my first car from 2007 which I was a co-signer for.

They don't use your overall credit score? What's this auto credit people talking about?

They won't care as long as your credit score is what they need it to be.

They might tell you otherwise to try and get more money out of you but at the end of the day, it's just that # that matters for auto sales.

For me, it goes 7 years back since that's the maximum it can. And I've had multiple car loans.

I'm planning to do 3rd party financing since bmwfs isn't really offering any benefit to go through them.

But my credit history is about 15 years old... and I've financed all my cars since 2010 (5 cars) including my 2 most recent 3 series and x5 which are through bmwfs.

There's a separate "auto score" which usually isn't too far off your credit score. But if you're ever curious you can pay for your credit report and it'll give you your auto score, as well which is what lenders look at when giving out a loan for a vehicle.
