Creases in Leather Dash

I noticed some creases in my leather dash today while driving. They are not visible unless the sun is shining rather brightly through the windshield, but quite annoying nevertheless.

I confirmed they are creases and not a windshield reflection, as I can feel them with my finger.

Curious if anybody else has noticed similar defects with their leather dash. I am debating whether I want to bring it to BMW's attention or not, as I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of pursuing a dash replacement.

I believe I had some small issues like this that I noticed in my 991 when I had it. Leather is not man made and is natural depending on the hide used. It's not meant to always be 100% perfect, it's natural. I don't think it looks bad at all and gives character. If you wanted perfect, then leather would have not been that. But that's my .02.

If your dash is leather, it's normal. Steer get caught on barbed wire and other objects that cause scars, just like human skin when it gets cut. This is considered natural beauty. The higher end auto manufacturers like Rolls Royce, Bentley, and Mercedes back when, used only matched hand selected hides that were devoid of any scaring. They also used to only use very selective matching wood veneers for the interior wood trim. I'm not sure if any of them still do this today as most people wouldn't know or appreciate these costly efforts.

Appreciate the input. I agree with your points. I will say it looks much worse in person than what I was able to capture with the camera; it really sticks out when driving down the road with the sun shining on it. In the garage it is not so apparent, but yes leather is a natural material. What's odd is it's only on that one section of the dash. The rest is perfect. I almost would prefer to see this spread across the dash rather than concentrated in the one area, but I won't lose sleep over it. Overall the car is awesome, but currently only has 1500 miles on it and my OCD has been getting the best of me

I have these deformities on the armrest right below the windows. Glad to hear it's normal.

Had creases on my old leather X5 dash too. Completely normal and it probably would be a pita to redo and/or replace.

I used some AI tools to upscale the resolution and clarify the true culprit. You are welcome.

Totally normal and adds character and patina.

Just imagine it was a smile crease in Mr/Ms cow back in their day and now they're smiling at you because they get to be on every journey with you.

Try a good quality leather conditioner--not cleaner. It certainly won't hurt and could help.

It's real leather, so there will usually be some defects like wrinkles or stretch marks. Personally I would live with it. Not worth replacing a dash over.

Like others have said, condition it a few times, and protect your dash from the sun as best as you can....like using a sun shade for the windshield when parking outside.

Yousef, hilarious.

OP, the interior is covered under the bumper to bumper. I've had seats, floor mats, center consoles, steering wheels, brake calipers for peeling paint, all replaced. I would try the dealer.

Same here on my Fiona red parts. Looks weird in certain light but not too bad.

The Merino dash on my previous G05 X5 looked sinilar. Apparently it's considered normal.
