Interior color durability
Hi all, brand new to the forum, but I’ve been learning a lot and it seems like a great community.
I’ve been on a waitlist for a G80 M3CX since early May, and I’ve been trying to figure out my specifications since that time. I’m looking to use the M3 as a daily, and have decided on IOMG for the exterior color. As for the interior, I was initially leaning towards tartufo, but with the new screen situation I’ve been starting to think the silverstone interior might look better. Does anyone have any experience with how well the silverstone interior holds up to daily use? Thanks in advance! |

Eat and drink inside an M4 never. I don’t even let my wife or my son take a bottle of water in my car. She says I’m a OCD. I like to say are you making the payment.

I have Silverstone and regularly have my 5 and 7 year old daughters in the car with me. I've had no issues with maintenance on the leather. I did have it ceramic coated so all it takes is a quick spray of Griots Interior Cleaner and a microfiber towel to clean up any dirt/dust/etc.
I will say though, I don't allow the kids to bring any food or drinks in the car. My wife rarely ever drives with me so I don't have as hard of a time making sure she sticks to the no food/no drinks rule.

Dated someone that used a colored lotion or bronzer or something on her legs. That shit NEVER came off my Audi's seats...Even the detailer couldn't remove it and the seats were black/alcantara. I can't imagine a lighter color. If I didn't daily my car, I would absolutely get an extravagant color like orange or white.
Really depends on your usability and also will affect resale (can be a positive or negative) |

I just returned a lease, f90 that I drove daily for 3 years. Silverstone interior. I thought it held up really well. I had it ceramic coated shortly after I got it, not sure if that helped or not. Was able to wipe clean very easily. Occasionally shuttled the kids in my car - but was careful to never let them eat anything colorful or sticky. I have orange in the g80. I'm hoping it holds up as well as the silverstone…

I have Silverstone in my G80 and it's held up much better than expected. I've gotten a few smudges here but cleaned them off with Gyeon leather cleaner followed by coating of Gyeon Leathershield which seems to help the interior stay clean:

Thanks for all the replies! The girlfriend stays, I mean what’s the point of a 4-door if I’m just driving around by myself? I may need to put up a poll to see if anyone lets people eat/drink in their M car. Might help me make the case that I’m not so ridiculous!

Sorry to continue the derailment of the original topic.
Eating? can't she wait? Only time I can imagine eating in a car is if going on a road trip. Water is ok and luckily that's the only thing my wife requires when driving somewhere.

Is your girlfriend diabetic or something?
I'm not sure how an adult can demand they eat in someone else's car without it being out of sheer necessity. Water is the only thing allowed in my cars. |

I appreciate how Silverstone lightens the interior space, especially without a moonroof. To preserve the leather, 1) ceramic coat it when new, then periodically on high-traffic areas; and 2) regularly remove dye transfer with a quality leather or interior cleaner. So far my leather's still in perfect condition after 8,000 miles and 8 months (still early days, for long-haulers).

Be careful with sunscreen that can and will stain the lighter leather interiors. Our last SUV was a Land Rover that had a beautiful cream interior. Unfortunately, we learned too late that light leather interiors don't mix with sunscreens.
