How to Remove 3rd Brake Light Encasing

Does anyone have the instruction on how to remove the rear brake light plastic encasing next to the top of the rear window (3rd brake light)?

I saw some YouTube videos of how to remove it for other models, but apparently, BMW changes this design every chance it gets.

The folks that installed my tint left smudges around the light that I'd like to clear.

Not a well produced video, but it shows the cover panel, clips, and sliding clips on the light itself that are used.

Perfect. Thanks.

I'll give this a try.

I think it pulls down and towards front of car.

It will pull down, two clips pop out. But don't continue to try and pull off without getting your finger in there and releasing the tabs otherwise you'll break something. Video points this out too for clarity.

Thanks. I already got tinted so I'm good. But for those worried, thanks for letting us know.

Exactly. Just like you said it. Pull down one side at a time and you'll release the two fasteners on each side. Then, with your fingers or a trim tool, push on the plastic clip to release the rest of the plastic assembly.

The light was easy too. Push the plastic clips out and the light will come down.
