Layoffs
Dawm, wonder how long this is going to last, but my company recently cut another 150 and this is the second layoff within this year.
All these years I worked, this is the worst I've seen...even a local BMW dealership layoff some ppl. They freakin cut the guy that does the trash..WTF!!! Anyone worried? wedding coming up and mortgage to pay...this economy worries me

hmm if youre worried maybe it would be wise to put off the wedding another day and save that money to pay your bills (unless the weddings is official like date set, invitations sent and etc). if not you can have a court wedding. thats what my cousin did, saved a grip of money and they're put off their church wedding for later in the future, maybe in a couple years or so.
hope i'd help

Wow. My company just does it dirty if you're being fired. This one guy came back from vacation, sitting in his cube....two security officers come in and escort him out. He is able to get his stuff two weeks later.

According to what I read the other day on MSN news, Education, healthcare, and Accounting industries are healthy and thriving. I would also guess that the energy companies are healthy as well.

That sucks everyone is feeling the pressure. For me, we've been the complete opposite. Our firm has been hiring new staff and laterals left & right (just brought in 4 last week), and working on acquiring a couple of other smaller law firms here real soon. It's actually been an extremely busy year for us.

We've had cuts twice this year. My boss was actually in the first group - the owner of our company decided there was overlap with some of the management, and my boss wasn't the easiest guy to get along with.
Keeping my fingers crossed, but I think I should be safe. I'm the 2nd most senior designer here, so one guy above me and three below. And thankfully we've been staying busy.
