Ordered at MSRP and now dealer is adding on $1300 of extras
I ordered an M4 at straight MSRP and when the dealer sent over the purchase agreement, it had the following charges:
Pre-Delivery Service Fee: (this charge represents cost and profit to the dealer for items such as inspecting and adjusting vehicles and preparing documents related to the sale) $799 ESTIMATE-COST OF LICENSE PLATE AND OR TRANSFER OF PLATE MAY VARY: $427 PRIVACY TAG AGENCY FEES (Includes cost and profits to the dealer and private tag agency) $98 This is over $1,300 of add-in's that don't seem legit (aside from possibly the license plate fee). Has anyone had this happen? Were you able to get these removed? |

Sadly, people are reporting similar things. Have you contacted the sales manager and told him/her that you originally signed the deal for MSRP. If so, what was the response.
You can reach out to MSRP dealers and start over the process again. But if this is a MY22, you are looking into MY23 price hike as well. If you are moving forward with the deal, make sure that you give terrible rating in BMW post sales survey (that would hurt dealer kickback) and also public forums. |

I have bought vehicles from DC area and those dealers have exorbitant doc fees on all sold vehicles. Unfortunately those states dont have a max cap on dealer doc fee and would not negotiate. When i bought my vehicles in the past, their final price was way better than local dealers even with this fee. |

What a bunch of lowlife scumbags....
The only ripoff fee listed on my P&S was "$599 Administration Fee" which I was told includes vehicle registration and a full tank of gas....

Dealers can be scum bags and the current climate is not good for consumers.
My local BMW dealer adds 1% to the cost of their cars to “Pay the salaries of the sales staff” I laughed so much when the sales guy told me that, I offended him. I ended up buying my car from GOLFFRR dealership at MSRP last year and paid to have it shipped to me here in TX. Full disclosure I don’t know what the current climate has done to the way they sell cars. There were a few minor bumps but there were no shenanigans during the process. Normally I get a car and immediately start planning the next car, this time around I’m not trying to buy anything until car buying normalizes. I have zero patience for the kind of stuff people are dealing with right now. |

So that $799 is basically doc fee. I live in tristate so I know it's capped in NY to $179ish but not in CT&NJ. $400~900 fees are common in those non-capped states I think. I'd accept that, since I expect to pay MSRP+tax+some doc fees. The fee you want to look at is the DMV related fees because you know the registration doesn't cost that much. Make sure they give you the unused portion back.
BTW I always ask for that info prior to putting down the deposits. That sounds overcautious but I assume it is definitely better to know the $799 fee before your order than right now, even though in both cases you can't knock it off. |

DMV, tax license are always paid for, this is nothing to be surprised by but the administration fee is a very lucrative way they have been making money on walk-ins buying out their ending leases. Its sad that they are doing this to customers now as well.
Also, if your car is a 2022, your MSRP will be 2700-4k below the 2023, so paying $1000 amortized over a long term to have the car is the trade off in this insane market. Notify the GM if you can get ahold of them. You may play the waiting game but its important to have them review your file for your car order and show correspondence from your CA and you. Do your best to discuss this when you sit with finance to pencil in the deal. My friend was offered a brake care package for $450 when buying his M3 last week. For me, this was $2400+. These dealers do what they want and we sadly are at their mercy. Good luck! |

Doc fee plus tag/title. Nothing that surprising there, although sure its padded and the doc fee is profit. Here in FL its $899 non-negotiable. At least they aren't making you buy any sort of protection or other nonsense that others are seeing lately.
