May have just lost my new M4

Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation-

I ordered a M4Vert last October.. for a delivery of this year (Spring)
Due to issues with the order, I was told the Fjord Blue was not available (this was in the Spring) and I switched to Fiona Red.

I got a production number in May and low and behold, the car showed up to the dealership here in NJ the other day (1 Aug!)

However-
I had done a European Delivery on my current model, and as that has been discontinued, I told them I wanted the M Drivers Package as I EXPECTED my car to be delivered to SC and before you start-
Yes, I am aware that I don't drive my M on their course.
But I figured, what a great way to take delivery and also to learn about M Cars.
I also told my dealer I wanted the car delivered there.

But-- like I said, the car is here now?!

I'd like to take it but I will NEVER go down to SC to do an M School without purchasing and taking delivery of an M.
And this is my one and only M I'll ever order.

The "dealership" is telling me they will not remove the $2500 from the price.
Do I eat it if I buy her? It would seem so..

I understand that if I cancel this order now, I will be paying more for a similar car. The price has gone up about $2500.. but I would also be getting a 23 vs. a 22...
But it would also probably not be until Oct. For a convertible.. that kinda sucks! LOL

Just wondering if anyone has a POC for someone within BMW that I can email about this.
I just can't believe you would offer M Performance School package of $2500 and NOT deliver the car there?!
People actually do the Performance school and pay that price yet don't pick up their car there?!

Thanks
Motch
PS) Dealership is here in NJ but won't name them until I hear from them one more time. Not looking to get into a Pissing contest~

I'm not sure I understand the problem.

Take delivery of the car.

Fly down to SC to do your track day, and fly back. Then be thankful you don't have to deal with the hassle of getting the car from SC back to NJ.

M driver's package does not mean your car will be delivered in SC. Not sure who gave you this impression .
I had the package on my M3CS and did the M school later
the dealer can't remove that option , they can discount the car by 2500 . Though in this market is highly unlikely as they have high chance of selling at MSRP if you don't take it

Don't desire to do that.. that was the point of picking her up there! Figured a nice drive back up to the NYC area...
I will NEVER fly down there to just do that course. And even if I did, the M Drivers package is $1550 and the One day M School is $1750!
So, the package cost $2500 on the website and the $950-$750 is so you can increase the top speed?!

Unfortunately with the US rules, I will never be able to track her as (unlike the NurburgRing) she is a Convertible and can't be tracked without a roll cage. What's the point of Higher Top Speed?

Thanks for your reply

Yeah, guess that's what it will come down too.
She's my 4th BMW and first M.. just kinda expected some sort of loyalty going both ways.
When I did the order, I told the dealer that I wanted to pick her up in SC as part of the M Package. HAD I known it's two different things, I would not have ordered it.

I guess you're one of the people that did the M School later. Interesting.

Guess it's kinda like the European Delivery. I was surprised that they told me that Americans would come over to Munich, take their car for a day and then give it back to BMW for delivery..
They were going over there on Miles (free[ish]) and and staying in hotels on points.

Guess most people aren't in it for the experience.

The European Delivery was amazing.. 2 weeks of Autobahn driving including the Ring~

Depends on the organization running an event at a track. BMW CCA will not allow convertibles with few exceptions. Others will allow it.

For performance center delivery, the dealer has to fill out a form once you have a production number requesting the delivery to take place there.

The experience for delivery at the performance center is NOT like an M School. You have very limited events including skid pad, braking, and an autocross like event. You also get a factory tour and an off-road event.

You can also use the credit for the M Driver's Package (~$1500) and apply it to another school that they offer including the M4 GT4 experience.

Sorry man, they won't remove it. Like others have mentioned, you get a top speed increase and voucher for driving school. Personally I would just take delivery and book your driving school.

I don't think the dealer will have trouble selling your car and letting you wait for who knows how long.

This!! PCD delivery does not mean M-drivers package, it's a completely different program. However, if planned in advance then you can attend back to back but it requires proof of ownership. Therefore, take delivery and book a short vacation to SC like Draper already stated.

Think of it as getting your car a month early. I hear PCD is way backed up right now.

You dont get PCD with M drivers package and its not BMW or dealer's mistake. They dont have a reason to discount $2500 with this purchase. Buy the vehicle and attend your M drivers course.

The End.

Yeah, 2 totally different things going on, here. I have the M Drivers Package, and it's just a top speed increase to 184 mph on the Coupe. (On the convertible, even thats limited, because it's a convertible, although, it's still 174.) You also get an M Drivers Package track day. The top speed increase, is programmed from the factory, so, that's not going to be removed.

PCD (Performance Center Delivery) is made by reservation, with your CA, when you order the car, and they should be putting in the Performance Center Delivery order code. The only thing you pay for, is the Airfare, and Transport of your vehicle, after delivery. The day course, is free. Like you said, you drive their cars, and they put you up in a complimentary hotel room, the night before. Everything is free, with the exception of your airfare, and vehicle arrangements.

I believe this is a partial miscommunication from the dealer. Your CA should know the terminology well enough to tell you what you need to do. This was definitely an oversight.

Certainly understand your frustration/disappointment. Personally, I would not pass up the unit and would make the time to go to a track day in the future. If you communicated your intention to take delivery at the PC and the dealer dropped the ball, it may be worth requesting some kind of discount from them...wouldn't count on it but worth a try.

It may be unfair for me to say, but having done Euro Delivery previously IMO I don't think a PCD would match it. I'm grateful I got the opportunity while it was offered.

As others mentioned, I think there was confusion around what you purchased in the $2500 option vs. PCD delivery which is a no-cost option.

I don't understand why you couldn't just book a class in Thermal or SC and take the course at a time that's convenient for you?

You don't understand he'd NEVER (except only for a PCD delivery.) fly to South Carolina .

We should make a subform called "I fucked up and now the dealership wont make up for it". Too many of these stories these days

From what you're saying it seems like the fault lies with you.

The M Drivers package is separate from a Performance Center Delivery if you did not request a PCD from your CA after your car was built and before it was thrown on a ship there's no reason for them to believe the car should've gone to SC for delivery.

Instead you might've confused the M drivers package as providing the same benefit as a PCD and thus were passive in your pursuit of scheduling the above.

I highly suggest you simply take delivery, and schedule a M drivers day at your preferred location. The PCD is really just a diluted M drivers day in which you borrow one of their delivery bays. They're also currently booking September Dates for PCD because they are so backed log.

I'd consider this a blessing in disguise considering you'd only be out the Airfare and hotel I think its a worthy investment to save 3 - 4 months of re ordering and scheduling a PCD date.

PCD must be done via an electronic form to start the process. Once you've got a production number, they can submit the request

Sounds like you didn't do any research and just assumed everything based on what made sense in your head. The PCD is free - M drivers package has nothing to do with it. You just need to communicate with your dealer that this is what you want done and that the proper paperwork is filled out to get it set up. Also, the MSRP on the comp models has gone up $3,700 along with increases for other select options so it'll end up costing you more than $2,500.
