Picking up my G80 this week and I plan on leasing it 3 years and drive it like I stole it, no garage queen thing.

But I'm a sucker for gloss

I don't have the patience for a DIY so I have a knowledgeable detailer do it for me; The car staying clean isn't my main concern as much as the gloss pop after the wash (Aventurine Red).

My other concern is if it would last 3 years.

if you plan to buy it after lease then it would make sense... otherwise nope.

I could see ceramic coating being worth it on a leased car just for the fact it's a tad easier to wash and it makes it look fantastic when clean. I however would not pay to do any PPF on a leased car, too high of an upfront cost with basically no return when leasing.

I think you will get just as much gloss/wet look from a good old wax.

I don't think the ceramic pop lasts that long visually. It's more about making it easier to clean.

I wouldn't bother TBH on a lease, just get the detailer to wax it every 3/6 months

If you don't want to spend the extra cash to get it done professionally, just clay it and apply Groits 3-in-1 Ceramic Wax every 4-6 months. It's pretty easy and doesn't take much time. I did my red truck last month and it just pops like crazy.

I ceramic coated my car the last time I had a lease.

Kept the car looking good and was easier to clean for the 3 years I had it.

No regrets.

I’m having mine ceramic coated as this is being written. My detailer said 5 year guarantee on coating. He does the paint correction, wheels, brake calipers, interior, exterior for $1300. And he’s the guy the local BMW and Benz dealers use. That was a no brainer for me for that price considering I’ve read prices here north of $5000 for it. So, as always, it depends on cost.

I don't have much experience in detailing but isn't $5000 close to PPF territory? $1300 seems reasonable.

I was hesitating because I could have ceramic for $600 (CAD).

Just throw some wax on it and when you wash, put a topper on it like Beadmaker or Xtreme Solutions. I PPF'D my car but that's what I do and I'm good with it.

Use Adams advanced ceramic spray on coating lasts a good 9-12 months easy to use. Wax is worthless in the sun it's gone in 3 weeks.

After the results that I had with my F82 and Ceramic Pro Gold I considered putting a ceramic coating on my new $15k Kia (not Ceramic Pro Gold level of coating, but at least a pro coating). I bought the Kia to commute to work (90+ miles per day) just before the pandemic and I WAS NOT going to put those miles on my F82. The time that I saved by not having to wax my F82, how quick and easy it is to wash, and how good it looked, almost made it worth it for that cheap car. In the end I didn't do it, but I was on the brink.

With that said, if I were to have leased my G82, I would do a ceramic coating without question. Again, maybe not Ceramic Pro Gold, but at least something that has a warranty for the duration of the lease.

I didn't know such a thing existed, it looks like exactly what I need. I don't have the patience and knowledge for paint prep before applying it but I'll look into it.

Also, I read a review saying the color had less depth or metallic effect after the application. Did you notice a difference?

I did my own correction on car when I got it and then I use these two sprays on car. Ceramic spray coating every other month and Xtreme solutions as a drying aid.

My car came perfect from the dealer no scratches or swirls. Only Prep was I used a good Iron remover spray on let it sit for 5 minutes runs purple then wash car. Use Adams ceramic for the protection. The car looked great and so easy to use. A child can do it. After that I used a ceramic spray like Glassparency boost to lock it in and make it pop. I would say the entire job will take you 4-6 hours. My last car a Cayman had the Ceramic pro 5 layers. I think my job looked better. Plus if you have OCD like me. You can repeat every 3-4 month. For a leased car this is the way to go.

I like the idea of the Iron remover, looks like a quick and easy way to decontaminate. Did you do the whole car at once or one panel at a time so that it doesn't dry up before you rinse?

Yes 1 section at a time.

Gyeon Can Coat or Gyeon Wet Coat and you will be good for quiet a while in terms of water beading. Then use Xtreme Solutions drying aid during your maintenance washes. Easy peasy.
