Intake time. which to buy?

I searched for a comprehensive thread like so many have done with tunes, wheel spacers etc, but couldn't find one...

So, away we go.

To install the piggy back, i have to remove the OEM intakes. SO, might as well replace them.

Id simply go with BMS top mount but have seen other interesting options and thought I'd solicit opinions.

I dont want a front mount. I understand that there may be benefits, but if I have to remove the bumper cover, i'll have to replace all the grills with CF and install the painted side reflectors etc. HUGE can of worms for me, so leaving the bumper cover in place is a must.

The car will probably never be tracked so im not terribly concerned with heat soak which I expect wouldnt be much of an issue anyway...

Any thoughts or advice? I'd like to hear the turbos, a little more sound and any HP add will be a bonus.

THANKS in advance!

A set of BMC panel filters (and removing charcoal filters) will make just as much power as any intake on the market, and you can save the extra $$ left over for additional mods.

BMS drop in filters if you want it quiet or top mount intake if you want it loud!

I'm actually waiting on Dinan. I'm not an intake guy at all but liked what they did on the f90.

This. Plus you'll have better IAT control with the stock airboxes with drop ins.

I'm not convinced that either the drop in or front mount would vary in power much if any, so I'd agree with this approach, but…

I want more sound… I came from a 991.2 with down pipes etc and miss the turbo sounds!! Plus full replacement really opens up the VTEC.

They probably all do the same thing, but I like that BMS keeps the plastic airbox bottom and cold air tubes in place. Seems like a more solid design. They also have actual dynos for theirs posted.

Hello to all,
I was wondering do the exposed top mounts collect more debris? I want the sound but I live in Quebec and plan to drive it in the winter.

Love the look.

That's mst? I thought mst was red while bms was blue? I do love the look but I rarely pop my hood.

That is BMS, you can get it in either filter color. MST looks similar but they remove the factory airbox bottom/cold air ducting and instead have a piece of metal as a deflector.

can you back up the heat soak claim with any real experience for the g8x platform?

I went with BMS top mount.

BMS have been nothing but great to work with and I have no reason to believe the intake won't pair well with the JB4.

I'd expect with the right combo of gas the car should be in the 10s and that is plenty fast for my 3 mile round trip daily commute.

I'll report back with details from my butt dyno.

Thanks for the input!

You mention heatsoak. Are you referring to other platforms or specific issues/instances with the G8X?

I cant seem to understand how they would heatsoak when retaining the factory air box bottom (more airflow).
