On Route from Toronto to Nashville - need suggestions

We are travelling from Toronto area to Nashville and looking to split the trip and stay one night on route around Cincinnati.

Would like some suggestions on hotels to stay at - likely north of Cincinnati. Anyone have some knowledge of the area and can suggestion something? (we like it when they have breakfast onsite so we can get an early start in the morning).

5200 Natorp Blvd, Mason, OH 45040 Hilton Garden Inn or any other in the area. I usually stay there when travel to our headquarters.
OR
9306 Schulze Dr, West Chester Township, OH 45069 Hilton Garden Inn if you taking I75. Plenty of hotels there as well.

Bardstown Kentucky is a bit off the interstate but pretty town right in the middle of the Bourbon trail.

Sounds like "just an overnight stop on the road", is this correct?

Any Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express will suffice. Free breakfast, coffee and wifi. I am a Hilton person, so for me it is usually Hampton Inn.

Location (town/city) generally has no effect on the overnight experience at these places. Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express are the "McDonalds" of overnight travel hotels near freeway exits.

We've stayed at IHG hotels before, so your suggestion of Holiday Inn Express is familiar. Thanks

We haven't been to Nashville, but are coming down for a wedding at Hickory Meadow in Charlotte and felt that we should spend a few days in Nashville while we're there.

It sounds like we should stay on (or close to Broadway). What are the best places to stay, and what's the best way to see the sites?

The other dude can chime in more, but I recently visited Nashville and was quite impressed. Very lively and clean/safe city. It's pretty small so relatively walkable. I stayed in the Gulch neighborhood which has some nice food options but Broadway is where most of the action is at.

Pinewood social, Chauhan Ale (Indian), and Hattie B's were relatively good restaurants. The Lane Motor Museum nearby is worth checking out.

Nashville is an awfully fun city but totally depends on what sort of experience you're looking for. Broadway is definitely where the biggest/most active bar scene is. It's worth checking out for a good time imo, but I'd get out and explore a bit too.

Neighborhood wise I think the Gulch is a good spot to stay. There are a number of boutique hotels that are pretty cool and most have rooftop bars, good restaurants, etc inside.

A few of them to check:
-Noelle
-Dream Nashville
-21C
-The Thompson (this one is in the gulch with a good rooftop situation)
-The Russel (super cool spot in East Nashville, used to be a church but it pulls you out of downtown a decent bit)

My friends stay over at the Omni a decent bit and it's pretty nice. Good proximity to downtown/broadway area.

Bars that I really like:
- Bar Sovereign (very chill local feeling spot a little off broadway)
- Old Glory (one of the coolest bars we have here imo)
- Patterson House (upscale cocktail lounge)
- Attaboy (one of the best in east nashville - has no menu and bartenders make you drinks based on base liquor and tastes you like)
- The Fox (very relaxed cocktail lounge - amazingly good liquor selection)
- Chopper (robot tiki bar lol, it's just a fun spot)
- Printers alley (another pretty fun part of downtown that's off broadway)
- Germantown is also a cool neighborhood that's close to downtown and it's own walkable district.

Broadway Bars:
- Laylas (little more eclectic group, different vibe than a lot of broadway)
- Tootsies (classic staple of Broadway)
- Nudies
- Roberts Western World (one of my favorites there because it really focuses on classic country and honkey tonk sort of stuff)

Expect a heavy tourist population (nothing wrong with that) and a crowd that trends towards younger, especially at the bars named after country music celebrities. Generally the whole atmosphere there is focused on having a good time, but as with any heavy drinking bar district it's full of general drunken shenanigans.

Restaurants:
- Husk (good southern food, close to downtown)
- Henrietta Red (Germantown)
- Peninsula (east nashville)
- Butcher & Bee (east nashville)
- The Optimist (Germantown)
- Merchants (not amazing imo but it's a staple of broadway)

Things to check out:
- Lane Motor Museum
- Country Music Hall of Fame (I mostly go hang out at Hatch Show Print in the back for art)
- The Ryman (if you're into music, it's a pretty special venue)
- The Frist (our art museum that gets good stuff rotating through, naturally I'd check before you go since it's small)
- Printers Alley (even outside the bar scene there it's pretty cool)

There's a lot i'm forgetting but all off the top of my head. I'll post back with some more as I think of 'em. Otherwise feel free to hit me up when you're around if you need anything. I'm under 15min from downtown so it's no big deal.

Lane is definitely worth seeing - good callout there. It's definitely an oddity and a pretty special vehicle museum. I also enjoy all those other spots listed - especially Pinewood and Chauhan.

Also good call on staying in the Gulch imo, it's the nicer part of downtown that opens you up to walking and also a short uber ride to broadway (honestly walkable if you like walking a little).

Wow... this is fantastic! Thanks for the effort. I will have to digest this and check out the various hotels. At first blush, they certainly looking interesting and might just be something that we'd like.

Thanks!

Lane has a lot of quirky cars, Doug has even reviewed a couple vehicles there. Hattie B's I thought was a tad overrated given the 1 hr wait, but I had to have fried chicken someplace in Nashville loll.

Besides going to Lane I never even Ubered. Walking there is totally doable and felt quite safe. Reminded me a bit of Vancouver BC.
