2020 X3 Leaking Coolant

Hi All,

I received a notification today to top off my coolant, which I did, and I didn't think anything of it.
An hour later, the notification was back...now I knew something wasn't right.

Sure enough, I noticed coolant leaking and the entire engine plate is wet.

I can't pinpoint the exact location. While I'm going to try and bring it into BMW service tomorrow, I wanted to see if anyone had any feedback to add in the interim.

Thanks!

Hey Rick. It turned out to be a defective heat management module, which is covered under the warranty. Apparently, it's a more common issue - based on what I was told by the Service Advisor.

However, I've never had this issue in 7 years with prior X3's. This was the first!

Prior X3's don't have a heat management module. Only the newer B engines have it.

Hmmm 🤔
I have got a 2020 X3 too. I am still awaiting the message to “top up coolant” to appear on the dash so I purposely haven’t topped up for a long time now.

Good to know where to go if it behaves same way as yours did.
I am still under warranty so dealer it is . . . Just to be sure how many miles have yours done?

I wonder if they will extend the warranty on this part if they know it's an issue. Just like they did with the active grille shutters, or whatever they're called.
