M60i Real World Performance Numbers
Anyone with an M60i gotten any real world performance numbers yet? I know most folks are probably still in their break-in period, but I'm anxious to hear what 0-60 times, etc owners are recording.

Only 400 miles, so taking it easy. I did give it the beans last weekend just to like 4K RPM, I saw the E-Boost graphic come up and felt a surge of power. At 3-4k RPM couldn't tell if it was E-boost specifically or the turbos up to full boost, but man it was an intense surge of power. I was on a 45 mph road so only experienced it for half a second but it was impressive.

Exactly. Let's hear those numbers. I would love to know how the added weight is balanced by the better torque of the hybrid setup.

Others will find this really funny, one of my X7s is a 2019 MY, and I have never floored the gas pedal ever in my life, lol!. I baby my vehicle, and I know they are designed to be floored just fined to push it to the max, but I just mentally can't do it. I occasionally push it all the way to 80% to enjoy the acceleration, but never to the max. This is true for all my other vehicles though. I am one of those that give the family hard time keeping the vehicle cleaner than my own work desk, and treating the vehicle as a baby (even though this is not what vehicles are made for, lol).

I'll be comparing my M60i to my nephew's m50i in the next couple of weeks. Will make a post then. I've used launch control once already but it didn't feel faster than the m50i

Throttle House did their review, I think they got 4.6 or 4.7 to 60. Car had ~1000 miles or maybe 1000 KM on it. As most YouTube videos are, these do not include roll-out, are done in variable conditions on public roads (not perfectly flat necessarily) and in their case they had two full sized adult males in the car during the test, but it is a data point.
My guess is it's about the same as M50i in terms of pure drag race. I have found the ePower boost does seem to give it responsiveness so I think the real test/comparison that might show any value in the hybrid system will be 5-60 tests or 50-80 type tests. We shall see, but I wouldn't expect any significant performance advantages/disadvantages from the M50i. I'm sure once tuning kits come out, there's probably a different story there given the S-class detuned engine, but we'll have to wait and see there. For me, similar to the guy above, I rarely floor cars, I will take them to 50-80% and generally enjoy having performance readily available without having to try very hard. The M60i can effortlessly accelerate and pass without much throttle input or RPM required (as is the same with the M50i)!

Although I’m getting my M60i here soon, this week hopefully, there is probably no scenario besides a launch that the power of the M60i is needed. I owned an M50i and never launched it nor took the throttle to 100%. It’s downright dangerous in most situations.
On the highway if you take over another vehicle at 100% throttle you may get cut off as other drivers won’t be expecting you to approach so fast. Full throttle at intersection take offs and such could put you into a situation where another driver turns in front of you, again not realizing you’re approaching so fast. Also, our reaction times are impacted since the vehicle is moving so fast to avoid these incidents. I know the brakes and handling are good, but may not prevent an impact. Either way I’m glad the power is there and I’m getting the M60i for that and other reasons. Just at some point there is more than enough power and even too much to be useable. I won’t get into EV power numbers here, but I’ve driven an iX and felt it to be dangerous during launches. Have seen Teslas approach me at very high closure rates that are dangerous. So 0-60 numbers are great and one would think the M60i should have more power than the M50i. The 40i got a bump so why not. We may see that bump in power in 4/23 when X5/X6 LCI comes outs. X7 may be adjusted accordingly. |
