Unlike Mercedes' bmw hid the led behind the grill veins. So it's not to obnoxious. I like how it looks with that back light. Personal preference I guess.

I think it is somewhat plug and play. The illuminated grill part sits behind the OEM grill. You can see how it works on the Alibaba website of the generic versions.
The grills come off very easily when you release the 3 push tabs along the top of each grill. After that it's just a few torx head screws and the fins come off. The lights will install behind the fins and you would probably have to run a wire or tap into the DRLs. |
