Iphone 14 carplay unable to connect it

Just got a new Iphone 14 and trying to connect it to Apple carplay in the x7.

It will not connect and will only connect to wifi, anyone else have the iPhone 14 and have connected it successfully?

Mine seems to work but not properly. Once my mic isn't working and mostly not charging at all

I paired my iPhone 14 with X7 without any issues… then restarted phone and xDrive just in case. Didn't have any issues… I was able you CarPlay and all it's features

As another datapoint, I have the new IOS 16 on my iphone, but it is NOT the iphone 14. Works great no issues

When this happens it's usually because someone accidentally tried to connect it to Bluetooth first and not straight-up as CarPlay. When that happens, iDrive prioritizes the iPhone to connect to it old-school.

To be safe, go into iDrive and into Devices and delete all devices shown. Then on your iPhone, go into CarPlay and delete all BMW's shown. Hard reboot your iPhone. Then attempt to connect again, but this time as CarPlay by pressing and holding the microphone button on the steering wheel to initiate the process.

thanks for the help endend up getting it working going to settings>general>carplay>connect....

I'm glad it worked out, but that's not on Apple, that's on BMW.

BMW allows for those who don't want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto integration which means someone rushing through connection who chooses "Bluetooth" doesn't realize he accidentally just configured his car to disregard CarPlay and Android Auto instead.

There are so few people without one of those two types of phones on the planet that BMW should just get rid of the old Bluetooth method entirely and avoid all this confusion.
