How do you get in/out without destroying the seat bolsters?

Title

I'm at ~2 months of ownership and the left drivers side bolster already has significant wear. The car is super tall and it's hard to get in/out without sliding across it. Any tips?

When you say that the car is super tall...are you referring to the lowest suspension level which is the load level?

I have the factory running boards on my X7. When getting in or out of the X7 I step on the running board with one foot to help minimize the amount of "sliding" across the left bolster. Getting in I barely touch it. Getting out, I touch it some, but significantly less than if I did not have the running boards….

Bridgette, now that I have owned this car for 2 weeks, it is much higher than my Volvo XC90. Harder to get in and out. The auto suspension has to be manually moved each time, it's a pain. The next car for me will not be the X7 though... too large, too high. I wish I went with the X5.

I’ve had that same interior on my 2019 for 3.5 years and it isn’t worn like that. Could be a flaw in your seats? I do have running boards so I may be starting from a higher position than you are, but I’m 4’11” so probably not much.

It will depend on how tall you are, how low the car is and if you have running boards. 2 1/2 years into my 18 Way seats on my Cayenne with Club leather and they do not look like that. Now, I am 5'8" tall and my car stays in the suspension setting I pick, which is lowest, I also try to not lower myself in until I am past the bolster, and do the reverse when getting out. So it takes some effort to avoid squashing them but it is doable. My G01 sport seats have some marks on the bolster, even with doing the same thing, so it could just be that BMW foam isn't as thick.

With all the mechanical adjustments on the seat, one would think auto-lowering of the side bolster to facilitate entry/exit would be a great feature. Regarding the X7's height, it's an easy hurdle compared to my G550.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your insight. Due to my age and my knee problems...in addition to being 5' 4"...I really shouldn't go with an SUV that is too high making it difficult to get in/out. So I will probably consider the X5 and other SUVs with a low step-in height. With that said...I read somewhere that the X5 is only 1 inch lower than the X7. I will definitely try one before ordering.
