Any Leica camera fans?
I just got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 camera which is the same as the Leica D Lux 3. Picture quality is same as the lense, body, controls, processors are all the same as the Leica D Lux 3. This little camera shoots RAW too. It's the world's first compact camera with a 16:9 widescreen sensor.

Leica makes amazing stuff, but their prices are high. I was debating getting a Digilux 3, but it just didn't make sense when Nikons and Canons are so much cheaper, and have so many more glass options. That little P&S that you got looks cool, though.

Leicas are great... I have the D-Lux3 as a small pocket camera.
One thing though, the Leica and Panasonic equivalent are different. The Leica's have a different programming in them particularly on how the Leica handles Color, saturation, and image noise. Side by side images between the Leica and Panasonic look different (this from personal experience as well) Both look good, but I preferred the Leica image processing a little better. Is it worth the extra few hundred, probably not... |

I love Leica's... I want a D-lux3 or a G9 for a p&s.. I know that the dlux4 and g10 are out but since its only going to be my p&s camera for when I cant bring my 40d, theres no point in spending more money than I have to.. rather just put that extra cash away for a new lens

My cousins came over for Christmas dinner and they complimented about the camera. One of my cousins asked me twice about looking at the camera after I put it away two times. It's definately different from todays high tech silver designed cameras. The pop flash is a real pleaser as you have to flick a switch to get it up. It has RAW mode which is amazing for such a small camera and manual mode is quite awesome for creative shots.

interestingly enough, if you look @ leica m8 vs canon 5d (not the mark ii), the canon shoots higher quality and more detailed shots. dpreview has the full rundown. The new canon 5d mkii is even better in that respect so leica is lagging.
however, leica has a dSLR coming out to compete with the canon 5d mkii....so thatll be interesting, and insanely expensive
