Nikon D40 help...
Just picked up a D40 cant figure out how to view the screen while taking picture , instead of looking thru the eyepiece..
Any help much appreciated. Thanks |

yeah you cant do that. you have to look in the eyepiece

you cant do that on any nikon slr's except the Nikon D90 which offers HD recording and Live view that gives you this point and shoot feature. Great camera and great price hope you enjoy it

This is typical of DSLRS unless you have a live view function. The mirror reflects the image to the eyepiece, blocking the sensor because the image you see is thru the lense unlike a point and shoot's separate viewfinder. You got a great camera, it's not a drawback usually, just something to different to work with.
