2023 X3M Pricing

I'm pricing a new X3M and I keep seeing dealers charging an addition $600 for the carbon strut brace (CSB) $500 and Drive Recorder $100, but those options aren't listed on the BMW site (USA)

Are these legitimate options that BMW keeps out of the purview of customers, or is it sneaky dealers not thinking a buyer will look through the pricing sheet?

I've searched but haven't been able to find a solid answer. I've read that the CSB used to be an option but now comes standard in certain markets. I've also read that its not completely CF and an aluminum brace is still under what you see (like a sticker). I've only seen the idrive recorder as an option on 3 series

$600 is pennies is the grand scheme of the price of the vehicle, but its MY $600. Thats part of a piggy-back or dp or anything other than paying for something that should be included, if it is included.

Optional. Dealer probably trying to inflate the MSRP. What I do is build it in BMWUSA and then submit to my dealer exactly what I want. Just did it again in august. No issues.

I bought the drive recorder on my 22 through the MyBMW store. $150 for Lifetime.

The Carbon Strut Brace for $500 is a good deal. It's currently going for $800+ online. I tried to order in March 2022 but it was out of stock. Back then it was ~$735 from my dealer online parts store.

If you do end up getting it and want to recoup costs, I'll sell you my stock aluminum strut bar so you can sell the CSB. (I already bought the CSB from another forum member).

Those are the two phantom options you can order but don't show up on the online configurator. They are legit BMW factory options that will show up on your window sticker if you order them. I added the $100 drive recorded but passed on the $500 strut brace. Your dealer is being truthful.

I just placed my order for an X3MC and my dealer had me build it off the online configurator. Obviously the drive recorder didn't show up there, so it was left off the build. If I want to add it, the dealer just has to do it through there system? Anyone else successfully add this later through MyBMW?

They are actual options but not listed on bmwusa.com. I just ordered them on my X4M

Yes, I added Driver Recorder thru the Connected Drive. Its $150 but they had Black Friday 10% off last year so got it for $135

If you haven't reached 150 status yet you can still add it for $100 to your build

I like the way it looks and don't mind paying for it. I just didn't want to pay some dealer made up charge. The levels of foolery...

I passed on a dealer that was selling the X3MC, new, with an additional $1.2k for the V spoke wheel. when I mentioned those and the double spokes are included in the Comp package they told me I was wrong and insisted the extra was warranted

as everyone said, those are deals, not markups, esp the CF Strut brace. I paid nearly double after the fact (wasn't an option when I ordered at the time). if you don't want it, you can easily sell it or trade + cash for a nice profit.

If I'm not mistaken the PAP is required to add the drive recorder. But if you don't add it to your build & add it later via subscription if your car has the PAP. And it's $50 more adding it later.

Definitely not at 150 yet, so I'll follow up. Good to know that if the dealer drops the ball, it can still be added later.

Is the carbon strut brace upgrade basically just for cosmetics/looks? (Other than weighing a little less which I’m discounting that benefit as probably not very meaningful).

I misspoke, it was not a BF deal. I received an email from BMWUSA on 11/30/21 to save 10% on select ConnectedDrive services until 12/7/21. No code or anything, savings applied right away during checkout.

Those were not options when I ordered my 2022 but with the dealer I was able to order Remote Engine Start and that was not showing online.
