Mount break controller - Where in 2023 model
Hi there,
Did anyone mount/install a WIRED break controller for towing with the 2023 MY yet? I am wondering what a good location might be and even considering to use the small compartment on the left side there as the harness is right behind there to plug in the break controller. Any idea/recommendations/experience are welcome! Cheers, Chris |

The little compartment on the left you described is where I put mine temporarily when I did use it, still have not permanently mounted it, havent used it in a while. Keep in mind that most require it to be mounted level.

Why would you use hardwired brake controller? I am using wireless Tekonsha Prodigy. Just plug into the power when needed and unplug when not neesed. Over 40k towing miles, no issues.

Simply because I already have a Tekonsha P3 which I really liked with my Q7 and the harness is anyways already there to basically just plug it right in just a matter of finding a good spot to mount it

@bono you are correct, the harness is already under the dash in the front, pretty much right behind the small compartment on the left.
If you remove the cover that is above the pedals I could fish it out on the most left side as it was tucked away with some cushion there. Easily can be identified with a bigger gauge blue and red wire... So just wondering now if someone identified a good spot to mount the controller |

Wonder if anyone makes an adapter from the proprietary BMW connector to the standard, post if anyone finds. I made my own adapter cable.

Tekonsha offers an adapter harness but it is for when the harness was still in the trunk I guess..
Easy though to build your own: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ol-61131378134 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-2-61131376206 Pretty straight forward and cheap as well Are you planning to mount the controller permanently? |
