Please advise: MPerformance HAS or H&R Sport

Hi team,

Writing to you with a question, ask for your opinion advise.

Which path you would take being on my place:

1. MPerformance HAS - total cost 3k (1.35k HAS and 1.7k install with whole setup and alignment)

2. H&R sport (non HAS) - total in a range 1.6-1.8k ($600 springs and i would guess 1k - 1.2k install)

Im not so much interested in the fact that its HAS as Im not going to play with it when its all set. It comes down to only one thing BMW Mperformance part, its quality, warranty.

Do you guys believe BMW HAS is worth additional >$1k ?
Maybe you will bring other arguments to consideration.

Thanks!

Who's charging you $1,700 for the install, dealer? We have shops in the Sf Bay Area, installing them for $800 with alignment. I'd check other shops. Colorado is semi performance savvy, you should be able to find a good shop in the area that's cheaper than the dealer.

Yes, dealer. Its after negotiations. Starting price for instal was …. 11h x250$ plus alignment. They also said its non-sense. Should be 5-6h max. Need to search better for good andy place.

Like 5-6max! Need to search better then for good place.
Their book rate calls for the tech to take the entire suspension out of the car. Upper and lower control arms, disconnect brakes, and remove entire hub assembly and work on it on the work bench. That's why it takes so long in their book. Just find an independent bmw shop to do it.

Per Magnussen Moss act, warranty/ repair work doesn't need to be completed by a dealership. It needs to be completed by a commercial repair facility that services customers and not done in your garage. If you pay an authorized repair facility to install the spring, it would be covered. Now, the dealer may have you go after the shop that installed the parts, but that's usually up to the shop to warranty their work.

Yes, definitely. That's why when I was told that; I just went with an independent shop, and the dealer offered to do mine for $1,350. But that didn't include the $250 alignment. So, I went with a well respected shop, known for their BMW chassis suspension setups. They have full e46 race cars with just seats and a steering wheel in them. I paid $1,216 for them to do it with alignment.

If you are not interested in the height adjustment feature and you are happy with the H&R drop, i'd get the H&R sport springs.
