Ceramic Coating for Wheels Recommendations
I've already been discussing this with Limegrntaln but also thought I'd see what the G8x collective has for recommendations of ceramic coatings to apply to the wheels.
I've got a set of the 1000M wheels coming my way and want to make sure I put a ceramic coating on them to make washing them a little easier. Which products have you all used and how's the life span of them been so far?

On my X5 winter wheels, I used Adam's wheel coating, the stuff you can use a black light to see how good the coverage is. Adam's coating is a thicker material than some of the other ceramic coatings I have used like Car Pro CQ UK 3.0. It's only a tiny bit more difficult to work with than thinner coatings. Maybe it's not thinner but it seems to be a bit more to buff off making me think it is thicker. Might also be the reason it seems more durable too.
I coated the wheels twice and had plenty left to coat again. Also coated the brake calipers at the same time too. I have noticed in winter that salt spray on the body panels seems to take some of the hydrophobic ability away from coatings. For this reason, when I wash the X5 I spray some Gyeon wet coat on the wheels and lower sides of the car then rinse. The wheels clean up nicely and look great, will probably coat the wheels again for season three since I have product left. Your mileage may vary. The wheels and calipers on the M4 are coated too, trying to remember what the ppf installer used but it's probably why the 826m wheels clean up with P&S diluted 10:1 in my foam sprayer, still need to agitate but not much. I have also been using some iron remover on the wheels too for cleanup about every 60 days. After six months the coating (whatever ceramic it happens to be) seems to be doing well. It just occurred to me that the stuff you can see with a black/infrared light Adam's was selling looks purple when you shine the light on the coating. So even your coating could be purple to match your shoes!

Might have to get some for that reason alone! I was looking at the Adam's product on Amazon last nice, especially since a lot of their stuff was on sale for Black Friday. The reviews did seem pretty decent too.

The 1000M are a satin finish like the 963M, correct?
Dr Beasleys is all you need. I've been using them for matte-specific finishes for a while now. My frozen white finish is coated with their matte ceramic pro kit, and my 963Ms were coated in their standard matte ceramic. Their stuff is great, and will not change the finish at all. https://www.drbeasleys.com/shop/exte...-car-care.html |

Hmm, didn't even give it that much thought but do you think it will make a big difference between something made for a matte finish versus not when it comes down to it? Just kind of figured it was a bigger deal when it came to something like PPF versus a ceramic coating.

Kamikaze Stance Rim Coat 3.0. Last well, heat from track use held up on the rims, calipers not so much... But under normal driving it would be great. Preparation is key here, as with most ceramic coatings... clean, think it is clean, and clean it again for good measure. Oils off your hands is a no no too....

Maybe this will help you form the final opinion. I'm also going say that the matte bronze has more of a textured coating and can a standard application process, get into the texture? I'm probably going to take my own advice and get a modelers airbrush. Goes on even and you can get into places the hand application can't achieve.
Spoiler: The coveted Kamikaze Stance held twice as much dirt as the next best coating.

Screw doing any lengthy ceramic coating...these wheels are a PIA and get dirty so quick its not worth it.
I just spray on some Gyeon Wet Coat after a wash...not sure why thought because it doesn't keep them any cleaner |

That’s the whole reason to do a wheels off. The video that I posted shows you which ceramics keep the wheels the cleanest. It’s worth it do a wheels off and coat them really good. Can coat isn’t tested in this video. Maybe you can take the wheels off, clean them really well and let us know if it makes a difference.

I used Gyeon Q2 on my CSL wheels, which may have a similar finish to the 1000M wheels. I've only cleaned them once so far, but just using a damp rag got them back to looking perfect. The coating doesn't change the satin look at all.
After the first wheel, it was fairly easy to do…just takes time to get into all the facets. Wear gloves! I would 100% recommend doing this with new wheels before mounting tires. If you have to clean/prep the wheels first it will be 1000 times harder. https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=94

May have been range anxiety about using up the 2nd half of the Q2 bottle, or just the fact these wheels have so many damn facets.

It definitely got tedious after the 3rd wheel. I ended up doing one coat of DLUX and then one coat of Gliss. In the end, I was ready to be done! It was an all day affair between those two coats and a coat of Blackout on the wheels.

I always say buy the modelers airbrush, but, I couldn't justify the $120 to literally use it one time. My 826Ms were polished and airbrushed by my detailer.

I did full wheel off and applied 2 coats of Carpro Dlux followed by a coat of Gliss on my 963Ms and calipers. I found Dlux to go on rather sticky compared to other coatings I have used and can tell you that it is a pain-staking process to apply and wipe evenly with all the cut-outs on that wheel. Allowed 24 hours to cure after each coat because it still felt a bit sticky after the recommended time period between coating applications. Maybe over-applied the product. Not sure. But, very happy with the final outcome. I chose Dlux because of its rating for higher temperature surfaces.
