Latest info on the new BMW X2
For those that fancy the coupe look then new BMW X2 could be the way to go. It seems like its going to have a more X4/X6 look to it than the current model and have the same drive train and engine options as well as the new 35i.
Unfortunately it looks like for those that are in the US if 'might' not be coming over ditto the electric models. Not idea why BMW is doing the but that is what they appear to be saying for now. Could look pretty good and launches later in 2023. New BMW X2 with some Rendered spy shots. |

As far as EV vehicles go, it seems to me BMW is avoiding bringing any mainstream (or lower cost) EV vehicles to US, opting instead for only "high end" (or around $100K) EVs.
Wonder if this is part of some strategy to compete with Tesla? |

This might be why they are pushing the strategy they are, don't know. |

Ok I realize there's nothing really new in this article, but what the heck, I'm bumping this thread anyway.

Also, I think the X1 already has a "bit" of coupe look as its back definitely is sloping down giving it that "chopped" look of the coupe; doesnt it? |

I think the 2nd gen X1 is more sloped than the new X1 - it's more upright now, which is what attracted me to this gen over the prior. But if you Google pix of the new X2 spy shots (see the link from the OP), that's REALLY more like a coupe. Much more in the style of the X4 and X6 than the 1st gen X2 was. |

EQB is quite a bit under 250mi range, and starts at ~$55k with a 66.5 kWh usable battery, and that's for the slow one with 0-60 at 7.0 seconds. The one with 0-60 at 6.0 seconds and even less range, is almost $60k. The press has not been kind to it. iX1 has an even smaller battery at 64.7 kWh usable. I think the decision is due to the fact that this kind of range is fine in dense European countries but for ~$55k (before options, no less) you can get a lot more EV (and more range) for your money in this country and at that point, what's compelling about it? |

So the new X2 is going to be announced soon and it looks like it’s going to have a light up funky grill. Should look a bit different, especially at the rear.

And another this time the interior and a bit of a flash of the exterior. Looks like it might have a fairly different look with the altered lights and rear. Pretty sure the interior will be a copy paste of the X1.

[QUOTE=MontyB1;30554802]Nearly here.
Anyone going to switch to an X2 to get the grill that lights up? Might be, but just if there are door sills, glovebox light, double stitching, and usual trunk rings in trunk for securing!

Yeah I had the new 7 follow me in the dark on the way into work last week, I'm not sure what I thought there was certainly NO getting away from it being a BMW that was following you.
Was it good, it was certainly quite aggressive looking especially with the double deck lights to also go with it. Your thing or not, I can see more doing this and it being the norm, in the past in the UK it was against the law for things like this but times change. It is certainly rather shouty and I can see some not liking that at all, also what are the chances its an uber silly expensive option.... |

I find these sloping coupe SUV don’t age that well and are style over substance for the several thousand they cost over the models they are based on to have less usable space. Will be interesting to see if the smaller X2 looks better than the larger SUV coupe and exactly how much more they want for one. I love the look of the Msport X1 so not convinced I’ll consider it worth the extra money.

Yeah I looked at an X4 before I got the X3, looked ok but when I sat in it was quite dark and felt quite small. I'm not sure why I even looked there is something about an SUV that is sporty that isn't quite right.
Drive a 3 series Touring vs an X3 by comparison and the 3 series feels far lower and can dart around the higher centre of gravity and weight really start to play a part. But that isn't why you get an SUV but a sport SUV is always a compromise of sorts but we wall want different things. See what the X2 looks like when it's launched. I could get one as a company car but know BMW the lease rates would be silly anyway and a Tesla or similar would make better financial sense from a cost / tax perspective. |

Never really been a fan of the X2 and X4 line appearance wise. It just looks off to me, like an odd mashup of a car and truck in the wrong ways.
