Looks awesome.

A shame the hood is so wide that you need to have a seem in the wrap, since most wraps don't stretch well enough.
This is one of the reasons i went for paint this time around.

But you gotta admit it screams proper race car and good looker. I keep looking at the m3, m4, m2, and m8 from both this generation and the last and NONE of them COME CLOSE to the z4 with a proper wrap/paint and simple front lip/side skirts/m mirrors/ and wing. The wing totally matches the proportions of a z4 whereas on the m4 it would look tacked on. Plus the driving position of the m3/4 is HORRIBLE. You sit right in between or slightly ahead of the middle of the wheelbase and have miles of car BEHIND YOU.

Z4 is proper, sit right on the rear axles, the car ends very quickly right behind you, ans there is a lot of car in front with a nice long hood/Bonnet. They really did a fantastic job on the design and went beyond what they'd normally do for a non m car. Clearly a lot of thought put into it. Here's some FYI. The last gen 2 series had the shortest length and very narrow body which had awkward proportions. The z4 has a shorter wheelbase than that, shorter length than that, sits much lower, has lsd and adaptive suspension from modern m cars, has a shorter height than any bmw, yet it's as wide as a current m4 or 5 series. That's exactly what a PROPER race cars proportions should be. I can't stand lookin at the new m4 from ANY angle but the z4 is such a good looker.

The Z4 is the best looking BMW of the current generation in my opinion
Very sporty inside and out, yet also a very comfortable drive when you want it to be

Didn’t realize it had a seam. That’s a shame. The PPF (I have) has no seam: do they not make vinyl that wide?

Okay, I realize I’m old, but I think you are in the wrong car and wrong forum. To me, the wing is all wrong. Looks like something I would see on a ten year old Civic with a teen driver. Am I wrong, if so I will certainly apologize?

wrap rolls are 1m50 wide by default if i remember correctly from 3years ago the z4 is 1m70 or 1m80, if you add the bits that come over the side of the car.
I think you can stretch it 10 to 15% safely after that you will get problems with wrap coming loose, stretchmarks, glue lines etc.

Probably depends on what you pick.
It limited the choices for wrapping a little, on my first wrap i hid it with a racing stripe, and on the second by embracing it fully

ppf is precut to size i think and they probably use larger rolls

My Xpel PPF does not have a seam on the hood either. However they needed to have a seam on the trunk but it is almost invisible.

This is EXACTLY what I mean when I say the proportions of the z4 are perfect while the m3 m4 m8 and m2 are awful. The z4 is shorter in length than a f22 2 series, shorter in height than any bmw car out now,.shortest wheelbase bmw out now, yet despite these short dimensions it's as WIDE as a new m4 or 5 series. While in those cars you sit in the middle of the wheelbase or slightly ahead of the middle and have A LOT OF CAR BEHIND YOU, in the z4 you sit right at the rear axle and have A LOT OF CAR AHEAD OF.YOU in GORGEOUS proportions.

Compare z4, to another pure sports car

Z4 looks so MUCH like the dodge viper. Remember when Americans cars sucked in corners lol. This dodge viper is a BEAST in corners

Not really. I could use the extra downforce even though it's propably not the correct wing shape for the car but nevertheless I could use the extra downforce for even more.maximum speed in corners

I found an interesting article on wings and downforce, calculations seem legitimate at casual glance. One take away for me was that they're almost useless on a convertible with the top down. That would be a deal breaker for me assuming I could justify the need for additional downforce (I can't) and get over how unattractive it is.

Be sure to keep that top up if you're wanting it for the downforce.

im well aware that with the top down it would be essentially MOSTLY useless. the wind defecletor would help a bit but i dont go on a track with the top down. and i think it looks MUCH better with the wing. to me it shows that you go to the track to drive and dont just show off

I respect your position but you must realize that there are 100 posers with wings (that never see a racetrack) for every one that goes to the track, right? Sadly many people would (wrongly) assume you're a poser. Perhaps if I was in your shoes, I'd say posers be damned, but I'm obviously not (in your shoes).

However, I'm a proud proponent of "you do you" so best of luck to you in your endeavors. You do you!

P.S. I love the color.

Pretty sure you can wrap the hood with 1 sheet.

probably depends on the material/color and the skill of the wrapper too , my experience is that they wouldn't do it with the colors i had picked.

I must admit that I consider Dave a poser, if I’m wrong I’ll apologize. I’d love to hear about his racing accomplishments.

Sounds pretty nice! do you have pictures?

(Mine is white with stealth PPF; keeps the color with a satin finish).

Off topic, but just saw a video of a car doing 0-60 in 1.6 seconds and 1/4 mile in 7 seconds (something like that). It had some kind of fan to generate downforce. Absolutely crazy wild!

I was also of the understanding that a wing would only be useful on a properly designed/setup car for a racetrack running at 3 figure speeds and being a top performing driver.

You could always angle the wing a bit to drop its effective speed. That said it would be hard to see their value on the street. On the street you are not going to be turning at speeds that the downforce would be helpful.

Think they are an OK cosmetic item but I like to keep a lower street profile.

Damn it you're correct. Once again posers ruining it for actual real drivers who want to set record lap times. These people do everything to make their cars handle better yet do it for all the wrong reasons, which is once again for faster drag times. Don't they know the wing doesn't help with faster straifht line speed? Of course not but it looks like it does so they do it. On a track they're trash anyway but this is America so this is what Americans do. In Europe it's all about lap times, not trap times

I don't race other drivers no. But I do set amazing lap times, in the top 5%. There's not much competition in America for lap times. The people who do have track days even those who buy pure track cars that are fast just struggle so hard at the track in America. They really just can't handle taking corners really fast they drive awkwardly braking at weird times or too slowly, but then somehow go home and post about how happy they are having gone to the track and how much "fun" they had. Not sure how it's "fun" to be 30% up to 50% slower than average times.

Was it an electric one seater in Grey color that carwow also made a video on?
