Hi all, I’ve been driving my G82 all year + my daily, 5 series.
I’ve definitely noticed there’s a lot more exotic cars on the road during winter where they are typically in garage staying warm. I’ve seen a brand new Maserati MC on the road like 3 times in two weeks, GT3 running around in the rain, Lamborghini in the rain today and a Ferrari in the rain before the cold snap a few weeks ago. I feel like folks are making the best out of their cars and enjoying them as life is short and unpredictable as we’ve all come to that realization at some point in life. Are you garage “queen-in your ride? |

One of the reasons I choose to daily my G80. Life is too short, and I’d rather put the miles on one of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned, rather than on some slow econobox.

I had a daily truck and a weekend sports car immediately before my M4 and sold both specifically because I wanted to consolidate to one vehicle. Between my wife and I, we were only putting about 12k miles a year on our 3 vehicles combined, and while it was nice to always have a pristine show piece in the garage, it also felt like a waste.
It is also liberating when you stop being paranoid about things like driving your car in the rain and start treating it like a car and not an investment. |

I work for a living and can’t afford to be a garage queen, but more importantly I bought the car to drive it!!

Since transitioning to work from home, I’ve sold my commuter car, so the M4 is basically my personal “daily” although I end up not using it much. However, I find as many excuses as I can to run errands in it when I’m not required to use my SUV!

I'm planning to get a 3rd car. I'll still plan on driving my G80 year round, but the 3rd car will be useful for if the weather gets real bad (i.e. snow, heavy rain, below freezing Temps, etc).
Also since my wife isn't able to drive stick and has no desire to learn, if I ever need to take the SUV out for whatever reason, the 3rd car will serve as something she can rely on if she also needs a car (rather than be stranded at home with kids and a car she isn't able to drive).

Working from home permanently (there isn't even a building I COULD work in anymore) has certainly reduced the miles I'm putting on my car, but I still get out of the house, if only just to take a drive, about four days out of five. My SO does not work from home (nurse) and we have two cars for two people. There's no way my car could be a garage queen even if I wanted it to.

I ended up selling daily (cx5) last weekend just so I can daily my G80. Been tired of buying these emotional purchases just for it to be a garage queen. Also figured since I paid all this money for PPF might as well drive it.

No garage queen here but still relatively low miles. I’ve put just over 6,000 miles on the G80 since November 2021. It’s my daily driver but I work from home so most of my daily miles are just taking the kids to school and picking them up in the afternoon. Then any errands during the week and weekends plus any car meets or photo shoots I go on.
I’d say in a general sense I’m lucky in that everything that I do on a regular basis is fairly close so the miles don’t pile on and yet I still get to enjoy the car on a daily basis as well. I will say that I try and treat it like a garage queen though. I’ll try and take the wife’s Pilot whenever I have the chance if there is the possibility of rain.

My G82 is not my daily, I work from home most of the time, but I have been using it regularly. I've put 2500miles on it since the beginning of december, I've got a nice mountain road about 10 minutes from home, it's been hard saying "no"

My 2023 G83 is a garage queen for four months. Nov-Feb. It's my daily for the other eight months, rain or shine. Took delivery 8/24/22 and did 4500 miles on it before hibernation. We drive my SO's X3 M40i for our winter beater, two months of which we are south, in Gulf Shores. Works just fine for me!

This is how I feel about it. All season tires on and can cope with most things that PA weather can throw at us.

When my M3 arrives in a few months it will not be a garage queen for sure. This amazing car is meant to be driven and enjoyed which is why I will drive it every chance I get all year round.
I anticipate I will be driving my new G80 between 20,000 to 35,000 km per year.

I don't and have never used M cars as anything but daily cars. That being said I don't drive a ton. At the same time all of the Porsches I've had (about 11 of them) all got used on a more daily basis too (again low annual mileage), but since I got the G80 M3 and had a 718 GT4 and now have a second 718 GT4 these are not used much. The GT4 I got over 2 months ago has been used 2x and has maybe 140 miles on it.

This is one of the main things I dislike about permanent work-from-home.
When we bought our house, we purposefully bought it in a location that gave me a solid but not problematic commute (about 20 minutes) as I already recognized the value of having time in each direction to switch between work and home brain modes. It's been over two and a half years of telework and I still miss it. |

I'm guilty of not driving my car enough. Going to the gym I take the Mazda.. and now with winter, if the roads are wet I take the Mazda out. It doesn't help that the car is "clean" and it's too cold out to wash it if it gets dirty. But I admit I need to take it out more - not that I even drive that much as I also WFH.

Just go for a drive somewhere to wrap up your day. I have been working fully remote for 8 years now and you couldn't drag me back to an office or rush hour traffic.
EDIT: wow, @SP2pilot said basically the same exact thing as me, just a few seconds earlier. |

I have 4 (about to be 5) garage queens unfortunately. Wife and I both work (me 6 days a week) and have a 5 and a 3 year old so sadly having the cars just fulfill the idea that I could enjoy them like I did 20 years ago.
