Fuse 203

If I do the Sporty mode update using bimmercode, is there any value in also removing the 203 fuse or do those two adjustments accomplish the exact same result? Thx

Hoping to code today as I just got my OBD. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I can’t seem to find the answer. I see several people have done both but not sure pulling the fuse is required if doing the “sporty” engine sound update.

What do you mean by "sporty code" in Bimmercode? As far as the fuse, you can start the car, put in sport mode and then pull the fuse and the exhaust valve will stay open all the time.

You can add an engine sound option via bimmercode called “sporty” which from what I’ve read on here keeps the exhaust valves open on both sides the same as pulling the fuse. I’m asking the question because some have pulled the fuse and done the code and to me that sounds unnecessary if the code accomplishes the same.

Hoping someone with experience in adding “sporty” can chime in.

Cannot comment, I just pulled fuse, always open now.

Yup. Bimmercode allows for you to fully open or close regardless of drive mode at the push of a button which is the benefit.

Unless something has changed very recently -
On pre-lci cars you cannot code open with exhaust with BimmerCode.
No idea with LCI cars

Neither of these is a g01/go2, and pre-lci g01 don’t have the full idrive7. Most have idrive6 and the 21MY with i7 is “i7 lite”

So, once again, unless something has drastically changed (and 99% it hasn’t), you can’t do this. Learn a little more about Bimmercode and your exact year/model BMW before assuming changes from another year/model somehow apply to the g01/g02.

There is a “search” feature which I suggest you try and do some homework.

I've done it in my '22.
Had to let the car warm up, went for a short drive and made sure the valve would open in sports plus. When I came back home, I didn't turn the car off; pulled the fuse with the car running.
It's been over a year now and 1 service in, no issues and no codes.

The first portion of your response was helpful and appreciated. The rest was simply not necessary. I have used the “search” feature extensively and the entire point of the forum is to come on and “learn more”, hence why I am asking clarifying questions. Not realizing the Sporty option is for later models is exactly why the questions get asked, and now i understand.

Again, thanks for your help. Zero reason to be rude.

+1. Did the exact same steps and it’s been open for probably about a year on my 2022. Had it serviced as well and there are no codes.

I wasn’t being rude at all.
I posted information that would helpful for you that will go a long way in you learning more about your car. there are a ton of threads about this already in detail, and maybe not the fastest way to get an answer, but you will learn a lot by reading the numerous threads and multiple pages on this.
If you thought I was being rude, Internet forums might be… interesting… for you. You easily could have been flamed in this thread vs. given answers that are helpful.
Good luck and happy modding.

I did the fuse pull yesterday... 5 mins of work.

It does appear to make the car louder from the outside in all modes matching sport plus. You also get the wicked cold start sound just about everytime.

From the inside with the doors closed... its still not loud enough lol.

Pulled fuse for about a year. Put it back for oil change and state inspection by dealer. Failed inspection, emissions issue. Had to drive around with a rejection sticker for 100 miles to get the computer to reset. Then it passed.
