Brakes locking after sitting overnight!

When I put it in drive and diengage the parking brake and go to pull off it won’t move ., I have to give it some gas and hear a loud pop from brakes then it will move . Anyone else experience this? Fine the rest of the day. Just over night. 🤷🏾‍♂️

was it wet? That's normal if you wash a car or drive through the wet and park it. It's just the surface rust of the rotor against the pad.

Probably this. I normally make a few hard brakes to wipe/heat off the moisture before parking the car in the garage after a wash.

Its the stick slip phenomenon with brakes.

It can be common in performance vehicles due to the combination of material used in pads and calipers under moist conditions.

Does your car have the auto hold feature? That is what this sounds like.

This. I always now go for a drive with hard braking to dry the brakes after washing the car.

Lol, one hard brake after a wash….and I’d have to wash the wheels again! It’s crazy how fast these wheels dust up.

Yep..learned it the hard way. Did a car wash when it was 30F outside and when I came back in 4 hr, car wouldnt move in reverse. Had to give a fair amount of throttle to move it and was afraid I was gonna back into the car that was parked behind me on the opposite row. Luckily the brakes were still good to stop..lol

And that's exactly what I do afterwards
Just a wet towel and a detailer does the trick!

I remember experiencing this on my E92. Quite exciting with a DCT and the layout of my garage

OP, Now that you know to dry the brakes after washing the wheels, I had to replace a set of brake pads on my 535I because a chunk of pad material came off after a loud pop from them sticking overnight from not drying it.

Check your pads and make sure they are intact.
