Perhaps a dumb question.. happy to delete the thread if so… but given some reports of blown struts from HAS kits and front lowering springs (and subsequent dealer warranty replacement denials)… is there a way to modify the existing front springs in a way that would be undetectable by the dealer? Could you heat up and compress the springs so that they are effectively a half inch lower than normal but seem normal at quick glance if ever needing a strut replaced?

The blown strut is KW HAS. Get the M Performance HAS, if youre worried about it, BMW recommends 10mm drop. Keep the warranty.

Yea def leaning more in that direction now. The 10mm drop they recommend is too tucked for rear and not low enough in front. If I did 5mm in rear and 20mm in front would I still retain warranty as it’s within the range of what’s possible with the MP HAS?

This is full down in the front, with 285/30/20s, and 10mm spacers. I can't say whether or not they would cover it if they were lower, but you're better off with these springs on, if you want to keep the strut warranty.

I don't think BMW would sell something that allowed you to drop if more than the engineers believed the suspension could handle.

If it does blow one, raise it up.

Looks amazing. And yea haha, that’s so true. I’m a newbie with suspension but I’m assuming it’s easy to adjust. Do the tools the kit comes with allow you to do it just by jacking up each corner or do you have to take it to a shop and get an alignment with any adjustment to height?

The fronts are easier to adjust than the rear. And, yes, it's just the turn of a collar. Anytime you adjust the height of the suspension, or unbolt something, I'd get an alignment. So, it's not something you want to do all the time.

Gregg how hard is it to go up curbs now? I put on the front lip with stock suspension and I feel I cant go to alot of places in SF. I am adding the sliplo protector under the lip but debating the HAS if this is already going to cause issues

Nik, it's only going to get worse if you go lower. I dont go into SF, so, I'm good.

Are there any markings on the front springs? Perhaps the eibach front only springs might fool the techs since they're both black.

I was thinking this too. The eibach ones have some markings but it’s very subtle. The techs would probably notice.

What’s the cost to replace a blown front OEM strut?

With how cheap eibach front springs and install is, I could prob through two strut replacements before it would get to the cost of the MPHAS kit installed at port ($2820)

If you go with the MP HAS kit, you are under warranty from BMW (and even more with a dealer install).

The -10mm drop is a recommended drop, not a MAX one, for everyday use + trackdays. You can go lower, that's not recommended for obvious daily usage according to BMW. But that does not void the warranty. Nothing in the install PDF says so.
