What is the difference between run flat and non performancewise?
I have an M240i on order. Put in the order in November and spec'd it out with my salesperson.
In December I came in to talk to the sales manager because there was an issue with my credit application that they cleared up but at the time and when he took a moment to go over my order for some reason there were errors... Color changed from Portimao Blue to White. He made the correction and gave me a new printout and thought all was well until I recently took a closer look at my printout... They had made another error saying RWD when I ordered Xdrive. So after them making the correction again and emailing me a printout of the current cofig, I see they made another error from the original spec... Run flat tires instead of the 19" double black 791M wheels with Performance Non Run flats. So my question... Do the performance non run flats make a significant different over run flats that I should go back and have them make the correction for the third time?? TIA. |

If a dealer messed up the color of my spec on the order I would just cut my losses and move on as previously stated by LivingSalt. They are clearly incompetent and I would take this as foreshadowing for more headaches. If you insist on staying and taking delivery change your tires, run flats suck.

I’m in the Uk but would have xDrive just to get the power down.
Also roundabouts won’t kill you in an xDrive. I’ve has RWD and xDrive BMWs and while you can’t cheat physics, xDrive is far more sure footed and the grip is insane. Public roads are place for drifting, intentionally or otherwise. XDrive isn’t for adverse weather driving either, tyre choices are |

I chose xDrive cause like someone else mention I chose it to get the power down. 0-60 in 4 or less with launch control sounds like fun and should be fun in any curvy roads I can find here in S. Fla. Also in rainy/hurricane season it shouid help a bit. But thanks all for feedback. I think I knew my answer when I posed it but Just didn't wanna deal with them again. But didn't think of the smaller tire size too besides the performance. |

I’m in a part Northern California where it never snows and rains maybe 30 days out of the year and I chose xDrive because of the insane 0-60 and grip. Plus there is no hit on gas mileage going from RWD to xDrive. It’s nice to just hit the gas, hookup and go.

I live in Western NC where it snows a few times a year but I've never needed AWD. I got RWD because I prefer the weight savings (even if they aren't huge) and the slightly better weight distribution. I'm not racing anyone 0-60.

It’s not just 0-60 grip that’s better, the drive grip in cornering is better too…meaning even though Original doesn’t race anyone 0-60, he won’t be making as quick pace in the corners either Weight distribution in xDrive is 50:50. What is slightly better? |

I’m sure that makes all the difference with your average American in the hot seat with a varying fuel load. |

Put a fat American in there and a full tank and you get 49.9% cross corner weights plus 52.4% front. Not bad for a "Sport touring car".
