(Simulated) Analog Display ~ Possible for a 2023?

I’m being lazy by posting this here (nothing new) and I’ll start researching the matter tomorrow….

Does anyone know if it’s possible to code the dash display to “look” analog?

I’d risk a venture into expert mode if someone (knowledgeable) assured me it was there

Analog as in circular gauges like Audi's Virtual Cockpit?

https://hips.hearstapps.com/autoweek...&resize=1200:*

There is not... your options are the view that we have, the X3M view and the green looking Alpina view.

EXACTLY!!

Apologies ASAP, but I’m praying that you’re mistaken and someone else can come through.

If not, I appreciate the information (and having you crush my dreams)

Audi Virtual Cockpit also has the Sport gauge option. MPH is in the center of the tach and given in the HUD.

I am crushing your dreams permanently right now... its not possible... the software load only allows for 3-4 configs for all BMWs... changing it up further necessitates different hardware. BMW only had full digital circular gauges in the F30 in certain countries and that's completely different hardware that is very subpar to what we have.

Yes... which why I always thought Audi's interpretation of a virtual cockpit was the best because it was very classical in look but very new in feel... altho I now got very used to the BMW setup.

You're right, Audi has the Virtual Cockpit done perfectly, the 3rd option is two small gauges in the corners of the VC with a huge map...nice options to have.

Given what I’m looking for here, I’d have to say that “subpar” is objective

I’m still hoping that a coding master type of white knight rides into this thread to save the day

Whilst the subset of the cockpit that is the screen in the Audi is great, the overall cockpit, in comparison to the BMW, is shite. At least I think so. Those truly analogue cheap looking fuel/temp readouts are bloody awful.

Something like this from ASAP above; ideally without the map

https://hips.hearstapps.com/autoweek...&resize=1200:*

Or a replica of 2020/earlier BMW type views

Simpler the better…I just want to look at two adjoining circles

From what I recall this was the only digital BMW dash that had what you were looking for-

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/uHEAA...HVM/s-l500.jpg

It was never available in the USA, it was very RARE everywhere else and is completely different hardware than what is used in the G01 / G02.

Digital analog displays don’t make sense to me - doesn’t matter if it’s my car or Apple Watch. I either want to go all in on analog or just have a fully featured digital display that throws as much info at me in a logical manner unencumbered by the constraints of faux analog design.

To each his own…

I’m guessing that retrofitting to true analog gauges, if even possible, would be grotesquely expensive

I was hoping to get the same “look” with minimal fuss

ie: coding

That cluster was definitely used in the US, it was available on F01, F12/F13, and F30/31/32 and maybe others. It isn't that uncommon. Here is a US spec 7 series with the cluster

My guess though is that w/ all the F series referenced it’s not gonna be a fix for me (G02)

Plus, I’d far prefer a coding solution rather than a hardware swap

Damn!!!

it is uncommon... these are very rarely seen on us car lots as I believe it was a special order option

either way, this doesn't help rottweiler at all... there is no solution for him

Dream Crusher lol

I like the 2019 dynamic digital gauge cluster only came with the Executive Pkg. It was the best of both, digital and analog. I just hated the thin non m sport steering wheel.

are you referring to this one?
this one was actually kind of unreliable... some people had failures and the digital gauges can actually misalign w the analog part lol... the speedo would be more towards the center of the dash

I would swap out the cluster from my 2019 M40i in a heartbeat, although that was inferior, IMO to what I believe was the optional cluster in my spouse's 2018 328d wagon.

Just looked at the dozens of items in BimmerCode expert mode listed under display ~ analogue

I need to find someone who is fluent in German to ensure that I’m not missing something…longshot tho it is

I’ve got an ex gf who qualifies, but given that she’d rather I’d be dead my guess is that she’s not gonna be up for assisting with this matter
