KW HAS kit and Warranty

Considering they make MP HAS kit, do KW springs void suspension related warranty work? If so, considering the only $300 price difference in price does it make sense to get the KW?

I doubt the dealer will do any warranty work on the suspension if you have any aftermarket parts on it, and i'm sure you also would need the dealer to install that mp has kit which is a bit on the pricey side.

That depends on the dealer… some may only warranty the oem upgrade if they install it themselves. I have a local dealer that gave a guy crap about running non factory tires on a 100% oem car lol

I've never seen any dealers hassle anyone for a KW HAS kit, but assume it would be treated like any other 3rd party/aftermarket part.

If the shock fails they won't warranty it, now if the engine blows up that's completely different.

I would assume the dealer wouldn’t warrant any warranty work to do with the suspension if you used any aftermarket suspension part. That could be anything, springs, camber plates, suspension arms, adjustable drop links, anti roll bars, bushes. If you have a good relationship with one and it’s a common fault they might. But most would point the blame on anything, probably aftermarket wheels if you had them!

But there wouldn’t be an issue if you had aftermarket parts and the car went in for a service or a recall/update.

Has anyone experienced a front shock either left or right leaking fluid literally right after springs and alignment were installed and completed?

I had a KW HAS kit installed, took the car for a drive, went in for a hard left turn and noticed the wheel bouncing and slipping almost as I turned. Took into the shop, they told me right front shock was blown and I can see a little fluid leaking everytime I park the car and leave it for awhile.

Anyone know what could be going on? Bad install by the shop? Bad hardware by KW? just bad luck?

I am also looking for the correct part number for a 2023 BMW M3 COMP Xdrive for the front left and right struts please.

Ugh. Feel bad for you. Would you consider going back to stock and then taking it for warranty repair? Or is that cost prohibitive?

That doesn’t sound right. Riding too low on the HAS over time could blow a shock, but that quick, I don’t know.

Complete assumption here; but I’m thinking the shop that did the install maybe damaged a shock (scratched polished steel shock piston). That would indeed create a burr which would then damage o-rings leading to bypassing.

I was thinking it was most likely a shop error as well but I've got no way to prove this and everything other than this 1 right strut is fine

would you happen to know the correct part number for a front right strut for a 2023 m3 comp xdrive?

alignment sheet attached for reference.. not sure if it will help anyone but it looked fine to me.. this is the data right after the springs were installed and alignment was done

It’s more than likely a damaged shock rod, what colour is the liquid? It will be a red if it’s from the shock.

If they don’t have the correct tools when undoing the shock top nut they will use grips on the rod to stop it spinning.

We ordered a new shock a few months ago for our R&D, I’ll see if I can find the part number. It’s was £800 in the Uk.
