Basic Inspection. Both diff oil. Transfer case oil. Based on experience you can wait on plugs till 90k without issue. Transmission filter if not already done at 50k. Cabin Filters if due. Oil if due. Coolant is long life but needed soon. Brake fluid flush if due. I would not ask the dealer or any mechanic to do more than 2-3 things at a time. They skip items when busy or tired. Actual experience at dealers. Last edited by Bking60; 04-02-2023 at 05:14 PM.. |

If it were mine:
Change every filter Change every liquid Change every drive belt Change plugs Consider coil packs, they seem to go south at the most inopportune time.

We had a few older cars with the famous coil pack problems. One had two bad coil packs, but not at same time during 55k. The other one only ever had one bad coil pack during 170k. The best thing to do if using the car on long trips is to carry an OEM spare and whatever tools you need. My wife watched me do one and said heck, I can do that. Dealers were telling people that they were down inside the engine and charging 3 times too much. I was told they changed the vendor years ago, so I wouldn't change good ones.

For coolant, I will hang on for a bit. In 10-15k, something of the cooling system will leak, fix that and change coolant at that time. Yes also hang on to plugs. When plug is in their way out, you wil know. They don’t fail in one day without notice. As for serpentine belts, inspect first, don’t just replace. Typically when belts and tensioner are in their way out, you hear screaking from belts, and “ball bearing “ rolling noise from tensioner. And when you touch one, replace both. Belts also don’t fail in one day without notice. If you have a Indy tech, go there. Not dealer. |

This is more of the defective coil in earlier BMW, right? wear and tare wise, you should get plenty of warming for plug and coil, like misfiring, shaking of engine during cold start ... One cylinder not firing just a few times, you will know.
